Breast massage is important to increase your breast milk supply. My mother suggest me to do it when I was pregnant until lactation. I get the greatful advantage by increasing my breast supply and successful exclusive breastfeeding.
Here’s the fact, the breast tissue contains an abundance of lymph vessels. Unlike other areas of the body, the breast lacks sources of external compression, such as muscles or strong overlying frontal part that promotes natural lymphatic drainage. As a result, fluid has a tendency to stagnate, which may lead to breast problems. This is where gentle, non-stimulating massage techniques can be used to aid fluid recirculation.
Massage therapy is an effective non-invasive treatment for breasts, as they also require need good circulation and tissue mobilization for optimum health. Breast massage just before breastfeeding increase the fat content of the milk and stimulate letdown and expression of the milk.
1.The best massage technique is to first start pumping the lymph glands in your arm pits, this lymphatic massage will get the blood and toxins flowing.
2.Use a lotion while massaging (a natural lotion if you are breastfeeding) Olive oil is really good for this.
3.Gentle rubbing and/or squeezing is enough to get the blood flowing. Do not press too hard, you could damage your glandular tissue.
4.When you start to feel your breasts warming up, it’s a sign that your breasts have increased blood flow, which is very good.
5.These massages should be done daily.
