Hi weishy,

I think we have communicated before. What job are you in? So many Sin in it.

As for me, I think HK is tougher. The kids need to take up so many enrichment classes. I feel that the mother here are more 'kiasu'. My friends in Sin are more relax than the friends here. Sin is stressful because of the education standard which is higher especially in English but Chinese in Sin should be easier.

My son's school is in Kowloon even though we live in Yuen Long. I sent him to English school cos I don't know how to use Cantonese to teach them Maths & Science.

Yes, things in Sin is getting more & more expensive. However, if your kids are Sin you don't have to pay & you can enjoy English education without going through interview. My son is HK citizen but my daughter is Sin. I'm planning to send them back to Sin for education. not so competitive.

Hi weishy,

Is the same here too? The teachers will still push the teaching matter to u becos they know parents will teach in advance. I'm paying school fees for it but I need to be part of the teacher. I don't like here becos I think the kids don't have enough time to play ... they need to use up most of their weekends to go for enrichment classes, aiming certs in order to go for better school.

Sin education is tough but not many outside activities. Their English is the toughest. Even in HK, you will have A+B=20, A-B=14,
so what is A AND B? in P1. Over here some school teach 1/2 levels higher. My son school have it during test but they don't teach. They just want to see who can get the correct answer ... 1. see who is the top 2. if the mothers do their job. After your kids go Pri, you will know slowly.

HK Maths require the kids to do it fast. Like Alice has 8 balls. Mary has 6 balls more than her. How many balls do they have altogether? My son school wanted them to write 8+6+8=22. If you do it separately, it will be wrong. For time, they don't except 5:30pm but half past 5 in the afternoon.

Hi littlemiss 2011,

I'm wondering too! But my son will still need to pay since he is HK citizen. Over in HK, you need to pay for 'English school' and also the kids need to go for interview. Don't understand why nowadays we need to study with the kids!!!

How many kids do you have?

hi weishy,

For my son, is about S$356. Maybe you can stand the 'harsh' education in HK but I think Sin is better. Not so complicated.

By the way, your kids don't look like Chinese. Very adorable. You are not Chinese.

OIC! No wonder they don't look Chinese

R your gf's son studying in a renowned school? Good schools are usually quite pushing. Even in HK good local schools will have a lot of homework ... what I know is > 10 homework per day. And, good DSS schools will 'push' the parents.

Exams are coming soon and my son is having all sorts of tests & exam for these 3 weeks.
This wk .. Mon- Jap Test, Tues- Maths test, Wed - Chinese & English Dict.
Next wk ... Mon - PTH & Japanese Oral (Oral papers given so need to revise) , Tues - Computer Studies - Exam, Thurs- Maths test again , PTH written Exam, Music test , Fri - Jap written Exam. There will be Chinese Oral exam this week but no area given so can't revise.

The week after next ... Thurs - English Paper 1 &2 Exam, Friday Chinese P1 & 2Exam, Nxt Mon - Chinese Dictation Exam & Maths Exam, Tues - General studies Exam & Chinese Listening + 识字 Exam, Wed - English Dictation & Listening.

Test & Exam for almost 3 weeks. I don't think Singapore will have so many Exams. We just have Exams for Eng, Chi, Maths & Sci. Over here, everything needs to be good. Even Art will hold 'weight' in the overall marks.
