My maid will finish her contract with us in September. We have planed to go to Canada for vacation. So we decided to release her end of July. We already told her our plan last week. But I really feel sorry as she may have problem to find job within a month.

She is very smart & can speak good English. Actually she is a good tutor to my daughter when she is in good mood. She can read stories and is good for all English subjects. She also can handle all the house work such as cooking, cleaning, and shopping with min instruction from us. Anyway, she can perform much better when we’re at home. We were actually quite happy with her performance. Although we noticed that she kept two or three mobile phones and liked to talk on the phone while she was working. But if she can finish her work, we did not blame her much about her phone calls.

We started have a little bit problem with her when we moved to a new flat. For some reason, we can only get our old telephone number back after three months and the first call we received was from a finance company. My maid has stopped paying finance company for nearly three months. During these periods, she asked us to give all her entitled holidays to stay outside. We did not understand but just thought she might be too tired and just gave her 5 days leave to let her relax in boarding house. We realized later that she might want to leave HK as she already stopped paying the finance company for quite long time. She also stopped to pay all her telephone bills. She thought that the finance company can not find her after we moved to the new place and used new telephone number. We also found that she used our new address to borrow money for her friend!! She lied too much in that period.

We are very angry with what she has done. First, she used our contract with her to borrow money before she came to our house. Secondly, she used our new address to borrow money for her friend. We had a very serious talk with her about all these issues. Now, she pays finance company every month and showed us the receipts. Actually after all these, she cut all her mobile phones and handles all the house work to our satisfaction.

I think if somebody has parents at home, she shall be a good helper & tutor to look after young kids (not good for baby).

Any comments? Shall I give her a good release letter without mention troubles she gave us? I do hope she can find a job.

佢可能好似我個賓咁﹐借錢申請去加拿大打工﹐佢有可能掛名去加拿大旅遊﹐實在係去那邊報到返新工﹐我昨晚睇左我個賓D加拿大打工資料﹐benefit幾正︰8加元一小時､每天只做8小時､要包TV､房…

話你個工人的問題都可大可少今次話她已經改過，但點知日後回呀？會唔會轉了僱主之後又再故態復萌呀？有時你都覺得她之前的問題唔細，只不過你同她傾完後改過only，但你個工人開頭的intention都唔好啦，只不過你發現得早only。如果你無發覺得，那會點先？

有時我覺得己所不欲就唔好俾人，聽你講她的前科都係做晒所有僱主唔想工人有的野，如成日講電話，借錢，出外過夜，欠電話費，有追數公司打電話來追數..我就覺得她無什麼責任心了。不論係照顧頭家，又或者只是大人or細佬，個責任心係最緊要的，無了責任心你叫人點放心？不如你問下你自己如果你唔去vacation，發生了那麼多的事，你還會唔會照用她呢？

將心比己，個工人係有問題的應該如實報導，唔好害了下一個人，你試想想如果你新請的工人的表現和情況跟她的前僱主所講的野唔同，發覺有問題，你會點呀？將實情如實照寫，俾個新的僱主自己去想要唔要她還好啦。

Tweetbird, I agreed with your point. But if I mention in my reference letter, she probably can not find any job in HK. If she stops paying finance company for one or two months, she will have to pay HK10,000 more for her loan. She told me it's her mother who asked her to borrow money from finance company.

我覺得你不應該為了幫個工人而害了一個僱主。

我覺得妳封reference letter 可以copy晒妳所講啲嘢落去,唔好好心做壞事,對唔住我多口.

Reference letter 唔好講 performance 嘅嘢 (refer to 天書嘅 standard sample)，有人打來問就照講，啲僱主覺得「食得住」佢嘅話，會照請，佢未必揾唔到工！

總之我覺得有些第一次請工人的僱主未必會睇得明你封standard letter，亦唔知可以打電話俾前僱主check reference的，很多僱主都係衰了第一次，日後先會變得醒目些的。

你要點樣寫封信無人可以阻止到，你要寫得她好定唔好亦無人會知，但你自己問下自己的良心，究竟係害了下一手好，定係幫你家下的工人騙人搵份工好啦。

信就一定要寫﹐係寫俾Immg﹐告知約滿。

其實reference letter即推介信﹐可寫可唔寫﹐做得絕既真係可以唔寫﹐但睇你唔會咁做。你咪係封信入面只寫低此人係你屋企做左22個月﹐幾時開始﹐幾時last day。跟住咩都唔好寫啦﹐連job duty都唔好﹐只係話如有問題﹐可打以下聯絡電話俾你。

有人見到封信﹐又有電話﹐都會打俾你問下既﹐(如果連電話號碼都提供埋都唔打就抵死啦)﹐你咪係電話先一五一十講清楚佢既表現囉。好既唔好既都講﹐等準僱主決定啦。

但唔明﹐完約點解係22個月﹐唔係24個月﹖
