Bintan Island 民丹島 is liked any holidayl resort in Phuket. Since it is an island owned by Singaporeans, the environment there is very very safe. U can take an one hour hotel's ferry to and from singapore. Better join the package from Singaporean airline. Not much to play in Bintan island, 2-3 Days are enough, usually, others will spend 1-2 days in Singapore on their return route..
For more information, i think that the overnight or late night VIP coach is another good choice. In our past journey, we take the train from Bangkok to Laos, and to VIetnam and Laos, we take the VIP coach.
