有兩間屋，一間city，一間新置尚未搬入的lower north shore , 現居租屋。BB 6m+

想BB讀 SCEGGS 但有兩個downside -要搬回city舊居， -計劃生第二個，怕負擔唔起兩個讀private

Second best alternative - netural bay public 有OC class但雖然都係lower north shore 但reside out of boundary 不過我哋亦唔介意喺netural bay租屋
3rd - Queenswood, 雖然都係private, 但聽聞冇SCEGGS 咁貴，極近新居

請有經驗媽媽賜教

Hey! Nice to see you here!

Not sure which lower north shore surburb you are in but I know neutral bay public is a very good school. However, there are relativly more asians (but less than artarmon public)... And from my memory they only has one OC class... So the OC class is very competitive...

Hi ! It sounds crazy to me too, but I have heard my friend , which she reminded me she applied SCEGGS K 3 months before she due!!!! Unbelievable !
I do think if you want your children to attend K-12 private, your application must be submitted AT LEAST 1 years old before.

Which made me headache as I just bought a new house that out of neutral bay boundaries....(actually just 4-5 blocks away).....

I must admitted that I'm regret that I haven't done enough "homework" on it

For more information, say SCEGGS, they only open to application of year 7 by the year 2024 school year, means you have to apply now

你講得冇錯, 頂級私校要一早報名排隊, 如果你係喜歡SCEGGS呢間學校,
就盡快比報名費先, 之後小朋友會有面試, 大約會是入學前 6-9個月內,
面試 pass後你至決定讀唔讀, 讀至比留位費都唔遲.

唔該哂。我個人好鐘意呢間學校，因為太遲先開始做功課，最近已經四出搜集資料。
我先生喺呢度大，我十零歲先過來。對於呢間學校我哋意見分歧。佢覺得從細就讀private,小朋友會變得好exclusive , or I may say snobby.

但我自己以前喺香港讀帶小學部的所謂名校，我F.1先入讀，見到同班直升上嚟的同學，一開學就有朋友，一齊成長好開心，好羨慕,而且佢哋到今時今日的關係都好solid.

我亦查過校風丶成績、舊生的testimonial 等等都好好，相反好多selective , say PLC好多舊生自己都唔鐘意。

但我先生頗反對，佢始終認為小朋友應該down to earth 一D，當然我哋曾經喺Vaucluse住過一段時間，見到Kincoppal 的女仔，好細個就名牌書包，更多係揸benz返學，我覺得好差勁。所以我喺呢間學校同local school的問題上膠著

請問可以俾D意見嗎？另外您覺得如果為了讀netural bay 而搬到netural bay是否本未倒置？懇請賜教

SCEGGS是私立？咁應該唔使一定住學校個區吧？最多travelling多D. North shore 應該有好多唔錯的小學吧，除咗neutral bay，atarmon, chatswood, Ryde 個D小學都應該不錯吧，好多都有OC班。我想盡量考selective school, 如果實在考唔上先去private, priate中學應該唔使提前咁多吧？

。
好似我之前所講。 yr 7 的報讀年是2024，好彩我BB係31／7之後出世，尚可apply

同樣係 lower north shore, 新屋唔係火車沿線but military road, 我問過好多媽媽，佢哋一致認為，peak hour travel military road 會drives everybody crazy ( apply to children as well)

所以如果幸運地入讀，SCEGGS 係冇可能住新屋

補充：甚至考慮其他suburb

是否有OC班唔應該在考慮條件內，因為係考入去。
有啲學校既OC班係該校學生考唔入既，
可想已知該校其他班成績如何。

老實講，讀得private當然想揀最好的，如果要讀kincoppal (sorry to those girls) 我寧願讀local
所以也請你快D準備。

我唔係怪獸家長，但如果因為我冇盡力或考慮周全，我會好自責。

唔好迫得自己咁辛苦。
家長鍾意澳洲係因為孩子讀書冇香港咁大壓力。
讓孩子可以享受快樂既童年。
有多啲時間學多項運動或興趣。

某程度上，我同意你老公既想法：

1）小學讀 local 公立或教會學校，讓孩子見識唔同階層／背景。生活經驗冇價！

2）考OC試係為孩子吸收經驗。只要原校本身好，有extension class，就算考到入OC都可以唔去讀！因為你已考慮有兩個孩子，如大嗰個為OC轉校，你可能要 drop off / pick up 兩間學校。你會否因為咁而要細嗰個轉去一間，除咗OC，其他班係比原校差既學校？

3）公立中學有 selective school test，私立中學有 scholarship exam. 到 year 5 時再因應孩子既個別能力而考慮。現在只要有唔錯既小學和中學在附近，到時有多啲選擇。

始終要你兩公婆一條心，為孩子（們）計畫一個美好既將來！

我都覺得唔使咁快咁緊張，無論selective school或private school 都要夠年紀再考，應該唔使咁快決定到中學，寧願一家人住得舒服，小朋友開心D, 學業都會好D.

我個系仔仔，打算明年一月過去讀Y4, 參加OC考試試下。如果要讀私校，我想揀kings school, 以家准備買屋，都好難定邊區，要睇買到邊度，但都會系Ryde , chatswood, Eastwood 個頭，都系以自己住的舒服爲主。

I actually live next to miliary rd... And it is extremely noisy... And the track drivers are crazy!!!

Have you ever visit SCEGGS school and observe their class? Do you like it?

I went to a few private and public schools for consultation including sydney church of england grammar school@Northbridge, inner sydney montessori school, artarmon public and vaucluse public school.

I think the Northbridge one is way too expansive and i dont think it\'s worth it. On the other hand i really like ISMS though some parents complains about it made their child like a robot. Artarmon public is very famous because they have 2 OC class but i dont really like the surburb itself and I m not sure if ppl would like to their children to suffer from all this pressure. I really like vaucluse public because the teacher there are really good.

My fd\'s daughter went to neutral bay public years old and went to selective school and she is a lawyer now.

I think the first step for you will be thinking about where you want to live. Go to school and feel the school. There is no point for putting a child there just because it is a well-known school but the child is not happy.

Yes you can, all that counts is the marks.
You just have to work out how to get the child to and from school if it is a long distance from home.
