I think so, but if you go to the gov't hospital, it's very cheap, just few hundred dollars for surgery....as long as she has a HKID, which she can't work for you if she doesn't have one.....the hospital/ gov't clinics will charge her as HK citizen's price. When my helper was sick, I sent her to gov't clinic which only costs $45/ visit. 工人嚟咋，駛唔駛同佢去中環睇ｄ幾千蚊次嘅專科名醫呀！！！ 佢頂唔順政府醫院咪叫佢自己返歸啦！ 不過你可能要比多ｄ時間佢去睇，因要等，不過依家全部係電話預約時間嘅，但第一次睇就要親自去拿籌登記．．．．打去問吓啦，好過睇你幾萬呀．．．．我睇如果已知問題應該睇專科門診，再唔係就睇普通門診先再由醫生轉介囉．

she had just go to govt clinic right now, but need to go twice a month, only cost several hundred for surgery, is it true? My friend told me it cost serveral million for such surgery in private hospital. Anyway, do gov't clinic has receipt? My maid didn't get one after serveral visit. ?-( Is she need to take long rest after the surgery? Many thanks.

It must have receipts after a doctor's visit in the gov't hospitals!!!!! Is that a joke that your friend told you? It costs several millions for a surgery of gallstone?? This is hularious...then the surgeon must be President Bush....(lol, kidding) Frankly, I never had gallstone, but I have seen some articles online said it costs around HK200,000 to do the micro-surgery in private hospitals which has minimal incisions. In fact, I have no idea how bad your maid's situtation is, if it is an urgent case, the hospital must perform surgery for her right away....however, even this is not an urgent case, i.e. gallstone caused abdominal infection, this kind of sickness is a chronic disease, it won't heal by itself but need to do treatments/ surgeries.....and its quite troublesome.....I don't know whether you could ask your doctor for a medical report to check whether she's still has the competence to work as a domestic helper if her situation is pessimistic....you may want to take a look at the discussion of Yahoo medical forum...http://hk.knowledge.yahoo.com/question/?qid=7006071100278
