Manager - International Training & Development APAC

Location : Sydney / Hong Kong / Singapore

Overall Purpose:
To manage the APAC Learning & Development team to deliver high quality training programmes and across the APAC region as well as leveraging the global training resources in order to meet the learning & development needs and enable the business transformational objectives of in APAC.

Principal Job Responsibilities:
•To establish and maintain a strong and visible training capability and create a strong training ethos and focus within the Verizon Business organisation in APAC.

•To manage the APAC training team to ensure the team is motivated, has clear objectives and is delivering a consistently high quality learning & development experience.

•To fully understand the training requirements from the relevant and priority parts of the APAC community then develop a series of training plans and programmes in order to deliver against these requirements – ensuring that existing US developed programmes and resources are utilised wherever possible.

•To co-ordinate and champion the rollout of key company wide training initiatives and e-Learning initiatives across the APAC region.

•To operate as integral part of the HR and Marketing leadership teams in APAC in order to co-ordinate L&D activity and ensure L&D activity is fully aligned with the regional Marketing and HR strategies.

•To help identify ways in which the efficiency and cost effectiveness of APAC Training deliverables can be improved (eg: outsourcing opportunities where applicable) and then manage and drive the realisation of these efficiencies.

Job Requirements - Minimum Qualifications:

Education:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred

Experience:At least seven years training or related (business management) experience

Required Skills:

•Confident and competent classroom & on-line training skills.
•Well developed programme and project management skills – with the ability to programme manage multiple projects simultaneously.
•Ability and experience of operating at a senior management/director level within the organisation.
•Well developed communication and stakeholder management skills – with ability to demonstrate confidence when communicating and also negotiating around issues at a regional board level.
•Ability to work on (ie: understand, interpret and develop plans for…) high level strategic issues and problems with only general guidance from immediate line management.
•Ability to operate autonomously in terms of management of team members and budget setting & management.
•Ability to provide input to create a vision for future training strategy – (ie: knowledge of eLearning techniques and tools)
•Ability to travel throughout Asia Pacific region as needed. (up to 50% of month)
