urgent !breast feeding when give birth in hospital
Hi,
I am now is week 40 and I will give birth in KWH. Nurse said that we must feed BB as fast as possible (breastfeeding) but I know we can only milk after 3 days. I am afraid if I give BB milk powder in hospital and then they won't like breastfeeding afterwards. Can anybody help to answer:
1. how can I feed BB when I give birth in hospital if I don't have milk for the first few days?
2. will BB reject to have breastfeeding if I give her milk powder in hospital for the first few days?
3. ppl said that we can use spoon to feed BB for milk powder and then they won't reject breastfeeding, is it true?
4. same as Q3, if I am not encough milk, can I use milk powder as a supplement to feed BB? Will they reject later? Or, how to solve this problem if I do not have encough milk?
I really want to have breastfeeding for BB but most of my friend are fail since they don't have encough milk or said that it is too tired.

You won't have much milk but you will have colostrum, which is very beneficial to newborn.
Also, you need to start breastfeeding ASAP to stimulate your nipples and to get bb used to breastfeeding.

My bb is able to switch between bottle and breastfeeding without problem. Every baby is different though.
My friend's bb won't take her breasts after having bottle. However, she exclusively pump breastmilk for her bb, and her bb drinks breastmilk from bottle.

Sorry don't know anything about this. That sounds like too much work for me though.

I used formula for the first 4 - 5 days. Per my pediatrician's instructions, I breastfeed for 15 mins before giving bb formula. (if bb is still hungry). After my milk supply was established (around 5th day), I don't have to use any formula because bb seems full with just breastmilk.

Actually, there is no need to supplement formula even if your milk has not "arrived". Babies are designed not to need milk right from the beginning. Just a bit of colostrum is enough for them. Baby may have a bit of jaundice and loss a bit of weight, but that is normal.
I think the hospital and pediatritian here in HK is trying to hard to push baby to start formula in the hospital, saying things like, "oh, your baby is not putting on weight", or "oh, you have no milk"...
