Yasmin ® is an innovative low-dose, monophasic, oral contraceptive containing 0.03 mg ethinylestradiol combined with 3 mg drospirenone. It reliably prevents pregnancy and provides excellent cycle control.
Based on the unique profile of drospirenone, a novel progestin developed by Schering, Yasmin ® offers additional benefits beyond its contraceptive effect. Derived from drospirenone's anti-mineralocorticoid (anti-aldosterone) activity, Yasmin ® has favorable effects particularly in women with a tendency to estrogen-induced water retention (favourable effect on body weight, breast tenderness, and breast /abdomen swelling). Moreover, the anti-androgenic property of drospirenone provides beneficial effects on skin and hair.
