I've applied N1 (PTG + Eng) for my girl in 2007, may I ask you some questions.
Could the students able to speak and understand these 2 languages after attending the class?
both my hubby and myself started to speak to my girl in English since she was born and she's able to understand Eng now (however, not able to speak much) and we also plan to speak in PTG by my hubby after she enter the class, will it help?
in fact, I already visited the campus early this month. I observed the IN1 class having the "singing" period, all kids were very happy. They are polite, cheerul and well-behave. Some of them said hello and waved to me and my baby girl. I had a chat with Ms Freda. She was very nice and recommended us to apply since she personally thinks this kindergarten is a nice school and always bring up good kids with good resources.
let's wait till the interview and see whether my girl can get in.
Hello! My daughter has been in Telford's IN1 whole-day class since October. To be exact, main-stream in the morning, international in the afternoon.
Regarding to your question, my answer is "don't worry!" Children have the abilities to acquire two or more languages at the same period. Since my daughter joined English/Mandarin playgroups before studying in Telford, she has a basic grasp of both languages. It is hard to tell exactly how much she learns from Telford. I can only say that I heard her sing the "I like apples" song after joining the school, which was not taught by me or learnt from CD.
