Hi Tami and yankimama,

I am just wanting to form a playgroup with other mums living close by, or I should say something like a coffee group. I am not intending to have a playgroup to "teach" kids how to be smarter or learn lots of things like those commercial ones. Simply just a fun playgroup that allows mums and similar aged babies gather together.

I used to attend coffee groups overseas over the past 6 years and they gave me a very positive impression in terms of interactions between babies and between adults. It might be seen as a support group or sharing group. We prefer mothers and babies but not maids cos' we value the motherhood (not because we don't like maids to get involved).

The mums can take turn to read books (any books or mainly parenting books), then later we can share what we have learnt. Also, sometimes we can invite guest speakers such as doctors, parenting book authors (of course they are our friends thus no cost involved). Sometimes we can have outings together as well.

The structure is all depending on how many families and how much they are willing to get involved in the group.

I am new at Monte Vista and not sure if this will work or not ( I don't know how many young families are here). However, I would love to have a group like that for me to feel familiar with at this neighbourhood.

Please share any of your thoughts here.

唉....e+ 成隻惡雞那一名
有次去人地媽咪屋企[都係11月既bb] 細佬玩人地個女件
玩具. 咁人地個女又係大女...人人就佢...當時無物反應見
我個仔玩佢件玩具...隔左成2分鐘. BB 女先伸隻手按下個
音樂制. B女一掂, 細佬就即刻, 一手汁住 B 女一隻手,
細佬另一隻手就已經係咁打人地個身幾下....

陰公...人地 B女果日 "生日"都打人地, 好彩 B 女無喊咋.....
唉......攪到我幾唔好意思
所以, 好想細佬學 HOW TO SHARE :-( :-( :-(

Also, I am surprised to learn that quite a no. of moms are BK members. Actually, I feel that the peopel live in Monte Vista is quite polite.

Hi mums,
Thanks for showing interest in this idea of forming a playgroup. Here is more information about the group I have had involved during the past years. It is called Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPs). They are located in different countries but not in HK (as I know). I have contacted the organizer (director) of this group in New Zealand ,where I came from, and got some ideas of how to run this group. However, I need to have more support and help from MOPS such as sending me materials and suggestions before we can set this up. It might take a long time but I want to start it with a simple one first before getting into a better formed one. We can borrow ideas from the MOPs.

This will be a non- profit Christian based playgroup and hopefully we don't have to pay that much (myself don't like the idea of paying too much for playgroups since I have 3 kids) and paying less means more mums and kids will be able to make it.
