Christmas & CNY money for helper

Hi all,

Can I know how much "lai si / money" should I give to my helper for Christmas and Chinese New Year?

She will be working half day on Christmas for us but don't have to work on CNY.

This is the first time we hired a full time helper so any advise is much appreciated.

Is HKD 500 plus a Christmas present enough? She will be working for us on Christmas day for half a day.

ha... I don't even give a $500 Christmas present to my C6..

a $100-200 X'mas gift is good enough...
"lei si" is about $100-200 is also enough.

I would say the value is all depends on how good she performs.

If she works OK, then:
- christmas present - around HK$100
- CNY lai-see: $50 x 2

If she performs bad, then:
- no christmas present (i did not give any present to my current maid :tongue:
- CNY lai-see: $20 x 2

Thanks for the sharing.

How much should I pay her for working half day on Christmas day? Triple pay or double pay?

My helper doesn't want to replace with another day of holiday but wants to get paid.
