my boy also had chicken-pox when he's about 3 1/2 months old. it was pretty critical at that time since he's kinda young. his doctor gave him Acyclovir to be taken orally (to help preventing infection which might leave scars).
however, when i talked to my friend who's a doctor at the Central Hospital ("mountain top"), she told me they usually just give something for the kids to put on the skin instead.
anyway, u should take your bb to see a doctor ASAP (at least to confirm it's chicken-pox or not, so that you'll have it on his/her medical record). if already had chicken-pox, s/he will have life-time immunity so no need to take any chicken-pox vaccine in the near future.
When my son got chickenpox. Dr. gave us the 藥膏&藥水減輕痕癢
my boy got it when he's about 3 months old, coz he got it from my husband. my husband got the herpes (俗稱"生蛇") maybe becoz he's exhausted so immunity was bad. initially we didn't know that was herpes so my husband touched our boy. herpes are re-activated chicken-pox virus (no matter u had chicken-pox when u were young or from the chicken-pox vaccine). since our boy never had chicken-pox or the vaccine by that time, herpes virus exposed became chicken-pox on him.
so be careful if u got the herpes, isolate yourself with your baby if s/he never had the chicken-pox vaccine before. herpes usually happen on the older people or those whose immunity are weak. however, including my husband and couple of my friends also got it when they're young adults when their immunity are weak.
in here, the kids don't get the chicken-pox vaccine until 1.
the Acyclovir (to be taken orally) given by doctor didn't help the chicken-pox recover faster but it prevent it from infection (so less scars). my boy only got a single scar near his butt (where the diaper covered) as it's oozy and hard to get dried out.
it took my boy about 1 to 2 weeks to fully recovered. however, he caught a flu with very bad coughing a couple weeks after he just recovered from the chicken-pox. i guess his body was still kinda weak right after he's recovered from the chicken-pox, so he got sicked again very easily. that's why he lost most of his weight during those times.
good thing is that he's permanently immuned to chicken-pox (no need to take those 2 shots; no missing school days if he could get it when he's older even if he already had the vaccine).
