I & husband are planning to travel with my 3 years old daughter to Singapore for 5 days.
1) If we want to travel around Sentosa, is it better that we stay in hotels there? which one is better, Shangri la or Rasa Sentosa?
2) If we stay in hotels at Sentosa for all nights, will it be inconvenient that we travel to Zoo, Night Safari & City Centre, Airport?
3) Will it be very inconvenient if we bring the baby stroller to Zoo, Sentosa etc?
4) If we stay 2 nights in Sentosa Hotel and Two nights in City Centre. How should we arrange? Any shops available in Sentosa.
5) Any hotel in City Centre have good facilities like baby swimming pool for kid?
6) Is supermarket convenient everywhere cos I need to buy milk for my daughter?
Sorry as it is my first time travelling with my kid. Therefore I have so many questions.

I had been Singapore with my son last summer holiday, I don't know a lot but may give you little bit of comments.
1) It is very handy to Sentosa from downtown. You may take bus, cable car or train (just opened at the end of last year). Transportation may not be the reason that you choose to stay at Sentosa.
2) The zoo and Night Safari are in the other side of the town. We went there by MTR from downtown and then change a bus. Singapore has a very good MTR network, you will find handy as long as you stay close to the MTR station.

5) I'm not sure about the kids' pool
6) Last time, I stayed at a hotel in the commerical area and there was a shopping mall opposite. If you want very handy, you may consider a hotel at Orchard Road.
Would better stay in the city centre than Sentosa if you want shopping. May consider hotels in Marina district, near the City Hall MRT and the Suntec City, better value than the hotels in Orchard Rd and there are Carrefour and Watsons almost everything for kids can be bought.
Also, would suggest travelling around by taxi, especially if you want to bring along the stroller, it's more convenient, time saving and the taxi fare is inexpensive, e.g. only around S$15 and 20mins from Airport to Orchard Rd, about the same for Orchard Rd to zoo/safari or bird park. Don't expect Sg's MRT/bus alikes ours, nor have Octopus card for tourist.
Yes, I agree with the others. If you would like to do shopping, it is better to stay in the city center instead of Sentosa.
1) With the new "Sentosa Express" has been launched, it is now very easy to reach Sentosa through the subway. Try to avoid travelling Sentosa at noon because of the heat.
2) Yes, Sentosa is far from all other attractions. One day in Sentosa will be good enough. I personally think Sentosa is not so impressive.
3) Singapore zoo is one of the best zoo. You can try the tram ride inside the zoo instead of bringing you own stroller. It is fun. The ticket fare is about S$5 for adult and S$2.5 for kids. Unlimited ride. You can check or contact Singapore zoo for more details. www.zoo.com.sg
4)There is only some small convenient stores on Sentosa. It will be easy and saving time to stay in the same hotel for the whole trip especially with small kid.
5) Most 4-5 stars hotels have children pool. You can contact the hotel directly to make sure before booking. Besides, you can go to the Wild Wild Wet water theme park www.wildwildwet.com. Your kid will surely love it. You can try Jurong East Swimming Complex which cost you around S$3.00 per person. The facilities are good and clean.
6) Yes, there are many large supermarkets around. It is better to stay at Orchard Road which have many shopping malls, large suppermarkets & subway station. Just as convenient as staying in Hong Kong.
I'm quite interested in your mentioned "Wild Wild Wet water theme park ". Is this far from City? How long and how much if I will take taxi from Orchard Rd?
3) For Zoo, No. And you better take it with you or rent one at the Zoo (around the ticket booth) unless your kid could walk for 3hrs. And I don't think the tram @ Zoo is worth riding. You may also consider the Night Safari.
We went to Wild Wild Wet once, it was fun for the kids...We spent almost one whole day there. They went up the water slide non-stop. There is one big slide - Ular-lah is good fun for the whole family. The whole family can sit into one big loop/float and slide down. It was scary for the first time (for my little one - she was 6 then) but after that she wanted us to go with her again and again and again..... There are life jackets within the park for the kids as well. The facilities are very clean and they have a McDonald and KFC within the complex as well.
We took a taxi there from Grand Hyatt...about 20-30 mins depends on the traffic.
Don't worry. Take it easy.
To be relax, chose a nice hotel and enjoyed the hotel facilities. It sounds great if u can go to the zoo for one day.
It's the first time u take the little child by air. If u prepare some juice or milk for her sucking when the flight started to fly, she will feel much better. (air-presuure caused ear pain!)

I will be going to Singapore with my son (8y) during Easter too.
I plan to go to Wild Wild Wet on Sunday 8 Apr, and to zoo on Mon 9Apr. Will visit relatives and walk around for the rest of our stay.
We went to Night safari last June - very good experience.
As for Sentosa, it was very hot, not much shade. If you don't have enough time you can skip this.
The Duck Tour was also very enjoyable.
Apart from supremarkets, you can also get most daily necessities and bottled water / milk / ice cream / Yakult from 7-11.
It is quite safe to go around by MRT, and to walk around at night in the shopping area. Of course not too late at night.
Last time we stayed in a hotel near City MRT station, which was most convenient. Most of the large shopping malls have food centres, and the food is OK and clean enough.
Of course hotels in Orchard Rd area are even more convenient, but also slightly more expensive.
Thank you all for useful information. So I think I don't stay in Sentosa hotel. I have known that there is also MRT to Sentosa now. Anyone has stayed in Marina Mandarin hotel? I heard it is nice. Is it true?
Just returned from Singapore and wish to update u of the following:
1) The 'free" laser show held in the evening at Sentosa was cancelled on 26/27 Marce and replaced by another night show (next to the beach) which now charges S$6 per adult. Since the transportation to Sentosa by cable car is very expensive and other attractions in the island are not impressive, u may consider skipping this;
2) The train ride at Singapore Zoo is suspended and u better allow more time to stay in the Zoo. There is a great deal of animals to look at and it is very often that there is heavy rain (last for 1-2 hours) in the afternoon;
3) Travelling by taxi is not expensive but there are many subcharges, e.g. during peak hour, after midnight, ERP toll, etc and this will double the taxi fare;
4) It is not easy to find a taxi as most of time taxi are on call. You can ask the hotel to call a taxi and of course, u need to pay a calling charge.
5) Travel by MRT is easy and not time consuming. I suggest u to buy ticket on a per trip basis and there will be a refund of S$1 when you return the ticket (a smart card) to their ticketing machine;
6) I stay at Orchard Road as it is good for shopping. Marina Mandarin is a good hotel as it is quite close to MRT and the Suntech Centre.

If I am not in the hotel, for example if I want to get back to hotel from the zoo, how can I call the taxi?
