milk storage - help

hi mummies,

i am a full pump mom and got some quiries below and hope can get some help...

1. i didn't breast feed my baby cause she was not willing to at the beginning, but these days, she's willing to. but i'm not sure if she can really gets the milk since i dont see any milk dripping nor in her mouth... i only see her saliva on her face...

2. so i bottle feed my baby but sometimes, she cant finish the bottle, leaving like 2 oz or so, would you throw it away or store it in the fridge for the next meal? seems very wasting if throw it away...

3. for the milk in the fridge, can i put together the milk from 2 different storing time? or have to wait until the coldness gets more or less the same?

4. the milk in the fridge will separate into 2 layers, kind of, is it normal?

5. when people saying have to clear all the milk when pumping, does it means no drops at all?

Hi kivilic,

I hope I can answer some of your question.

If your baby has around 6 to 10 wet or dirty nappies everyday, it means he/she will have enough milk from you even you didn't see any milk dripping nor in her mouth

For the leftover milk in the bottle, you will need to throw it away. Or maybe you drink it lo if you don't want to waste

You can put the milk from 2 different storing time together only if their temperature are the same.

Those milk seperate into 2 layers, I think it is normal because it happens on mine as well. I think one is the fats and the other is milk.

oh, throwing away the milk is so heart-breaking... but i dont think i can drink it either, i tried... :-|

now, i just breast feed my baby for 10mins each meal then with bottle. cause at the end of the 10 mins, she will start crying as if she cannot get any milk. i dont want to push her too hard cause it's been one and a half month for her using bottle...

so she will still has 6 wet diapers each day, but unable to tell me if she can be breast fed...

I think give baby certain bottle training is a good idea. My baby is 3.5 months old now and she is a little bit refusing bottle now. :-(

I breast feed my one around 10 to 20 mins each meal and she grow quite well. Babies are very smart. If they have enough, they will let go the breast. That's what happen on my baby.
