BainInlay, my baby boy also has 雜音 in his heart as well. My doctor found it out on his 3rd day at nite and he was referred to a doctor of 兒童心臟科. He had the心臟超聲波 on his 4th day and confirmed that there is a little hole in his heart (about 3-5mm). As he is also 食得, 訓得, 玩得, 而且體重都正常增加(出世時有8磅5oz, 滿月時有10磅8oz), the specialist said the hole is small and does not require any medical treatment (medicine or operation) for the time being. He said some of the babies who have this problem, their hole will get smaller and smaller and closed before 5 years old. Even his hole still remain there, there should not be a big problem and we should treat him as a normal baby. However, as it may affect his lung function, we have to watch him out careful and see if he has any special response when drinking milk, especially whether he has 氣喘. Hope your 囡囡 does not have this problem in her heart la.
When I first learnt that my baby boy may has problem in his heart on his 3rd day at nite, I could not stop crying in the hospital. Even when the specialist said that I should treat him as a normal baby and his hole may be closed when he grow up, I'm still could not control my tears every time when I talk about this.
He had the 心臟超聲波 again when he is one month old, and the hole is about the same size. He will require regular monitoring and will have the 心臟超聲波 again when he is 6-month old.
May God bless all the babies and wish them good health. Sometimes, I also think that it is 主耶穌既安排 to give us a challenge and we should treasure what we have. Anyway, as I wish my boy to have a good health, I will continue to breastfeed him. In my original plan, I would bf him for 3 months, as I will resume to work next mth. But now, I hope I could persist and and hopefully could last for at least 6 mths.
