I'm now 11 weeks. To book C+ specialists in HK is much easier, they are busy but so long you are willing to pay there is always someone who can fit you in. Price for OSCAR test is very affordable and not much difference between public and C+. But personally, I'm not going to do OSCAR and I will wait until 16-17 weeks to do amino test as I know I am high risk and the high ratio would depress me for another month be4 I can do the amino test... I've talked to a nurse at 贊育 and she said she can register me for both tests but she asked me to think whether it is necessary to spend the money twice. If you want to go for amino test, make sure you ask for an express service (initial result in 2-5 days) followed by a full report in 2-3 weeks' time. Otherwise, the wait would be very difficult...

I'm in a similar situation with you: similar age, found out I'm pregnant before I travelled back to HK for my holiday. I've taken the risk to fly so that I can be with my family. Got an appointment with a O&G doctor on arrival and she did an internal u/s and confirmed the pregnancy.
This is what I've done: If you are a HK resident, go to a GP and ask to be referred to a government hospital for ante-natal check-up, eg, QE or PWH, got registered and they will give you a date for first appointment. Because of our age, they will arrange Amniocentesis test free of charge. If you are really worried, you can still visit C+ for OSCAR test (as QE has already told me they are too full to arrange OSCAR test for everybody, even at our age!) before amino test - for sure it will be cheaper to do it here than it Australia.
I now have to extend my stay in HK until at least 20 weeks for the amino test and get enough rest before I fly back home but I think it is worth doing so. You will have more support from family and friends here!

Hi ozmandy,

I came from Sydney and had my daughter there. The first O&G visit and U/S is usually booked at 10 - 12w. For me, my GP has written a letter for me to have U/S in 7w, as I was worried about miscarrage (I was on holiday when i got pregnant and I've done lots of dangerous activities). At the end I had an internal U/S as baby was too small, and it detected baby heartbeats. Maybe you can ask your GP to write you another referral?

Under normal situation, the second U/S is done in week 19. Very different to HK O&G, they don't do anymore U/S unless there are problems with the baby (eg. too big, risk of miscarrage, etc.). I think you can ask your O&G or GP to write referrral letters if you want additional U/S to be done. You will need to pay for these U/S out of pocket as Medicare only covers the 12w and 19w scans.

我都係照陰道超聲波ga,唔會痛ga,最緊要個醫生唔好粗魯,唔係會比佢整到有少少唔舒服ga,but唔係咩大問題ge,無需擔心.

唔駛太擔心,我第一次去見醫生時,計last m的日子應有8w,但係只見水囊,見唔到個胎,重要成日每隔幾日就流啡,擔心死我. 不過我自己個週期一向長(around 40 days),醫生叫我過兩個星期再去照過,今日終於見到小b個心跳la!

醫生話睇個size應該係只有7w大,所以在初期未照到小b的話,都唔駛太擔心!

Hi Freesia_cat,

我都好想找另外一個醫生照。但Sydney的醫療設備及醫生均較香港落後很多。就算婦科醫生都沒有Ultrasound設備，必須再轉介到化驗診所照，而佢地的ultasound機，真係落後非常，居然無法即時印出結果，還要等冲晒，你話係咪好驚。

想轉婦科醫生，仲煩！

必須要由普通科醫生再轉介，而想約婦科醫生又要再等數週。况且他們一般在10weeks之前都不想見妳，真係唔同香港，只要肯俾錢就很容易見醫生及照Ultrasound.
