I'm not sure if each State has their own regulation but for Queensland, the child must be aged 6 by June 30 in the year they enrol in Year 1. In your child's case, he/she will start Year 1 in Feb 2011.

My son was born in Dec 2005 so he will start Prep Year in Feb 2011 as the regulation is he must be aged 5 by June 30 in the year he enrols in Prep.

Hi,

Selective schools are for academically more able students, and there should be 1 music selective school in NSW (or Oz? can't remember). ** selective schools are public schools (if I remember it correctly).

My husband's cousin is studying in one of the selective schools (Secondary) and I think Math. is one of the important subjects as the mother kept searching for Math. exercise in HK. Anyway -- tutorial classes, exercises... no other ways.

I couldn't find out the school fees of the other two, is that just the same or similar charges for the school fees.

wor... that seems it costs too much to study in private schools in au, right?

Also, if I want to let my girl to go to the selective schools in the future, what can I do now? Is it need to choose a good primary school for her? what kind of primary schools can make my girl go to the selective schools more easily?

Ths for your help!

How old is your daughter and when are you intending to sendher? There are few good girl school in the Eastern suburbs such as SCEEGS, Kambala, Ascham Sydney Girls High (selective). For all these, waiting list is long and application is made many mnay years ahead of time.

You meanthat if you want to apply good high school, we better hand in application fewyears before. It seems unbelievable. How can they make the decision to offer whenthe kid is too young to test their abilities?

How aboutprimary school? Do you need to apply earlier?
Have youheard about preparatory school? Is it easier to enter a good high school for thestudents of their preparatory school?

My real case... I came over to Syd for studying when I was young and needed to look for a high school. I took the placement test at Ravenswood and they accepted my application. However, it took 5 yrs to get the place!! At that time, I was settled at another school and therefore did not accpet their offer.

So I think is the right time to apply for your daughter.
