我女2歲，平時同佢中文溝通冇問題。英文佢識日常用的單字, 但人地同佢講成句英文佢唔明。一開始係想佢學好中文所以一直用中文溝通，但宜家驚佢入preschool 聽唔明而討厭返學。我而家同佢講多些英文或用英文講故事，佢又好似冇乜興趣。可唔可以講下你地嘅經驗？

你所講的是普通話還是廣東話？我想找廣東話的，唔一定是preschool, 可以是一星期一堂的興趣班

I know there are Chinese schools in Milpitas and Sunnyvale (Cupertino district)teach Cantonese. However, I think the Chinese schools in Palo Alto mostly teach Mandarin in simplified characters, and there's a tough one there!

You guys seem really care about your kids learning Chinese! My son's been going to weekend Chinese school for 7 years coz my mother-in-law really cared about him learning Chinese, but this year we decided to let him quit coz there's always conflict with his sports schedule.

Also, my neighbor (the dad, an ABC) had learned Chinese for 12 yrs but I've never heard him saying a single Chinese word. Until one day, I heard him asking the contractor for how much in Chinese. He said going to Chinese school was boring so he'll never let his own kids go to Chinese school!

I do have friends' kids who can read and write essays in Chinese at young age, but they have spent lots of extra efforts unless they go to a Chinese bilingual school during the day. Meanwhile, I heard their parents complained that their English is not good enough. Of course, becoz they spent most of their times in Chinese at school every day!

My older son went to that preschool 8-9 years ago! It's in Fremont, CA and now it's too far for us since we've moved! Also, I'm not sure if that HK teacher has retired yet. I know there's a small preschool owned by another HK teacher used to teach there. It's also in Fremont but I heard that the waiting list is 2 years! It's not a bilingual preschool, but the owner/head teacher can speak Cantonese, Mandarin and fluent English although it's an English preschool.

It will be good if there's a hk teacher in my daughter 's class. At least help my daughter through the transitional period. May I know which city you live and the name of that school?

我地都幫個女搵緊學校，我係Denver附近，個女係11月2012出世，宜家只可以報2015 年既 2-3嵗班. 呀女英文只係識單字，同好細膽！所以我都好擔心佢自己返學既情況，我地應該會揀co-op 起碼我可以跟埋上堂，之前係Idaho 佢返過3個月 co-op，覺得幾好呀，又平d 不過家長都幾多野做！
不過講真 coop 咁平其實會唔會唔好？大家點睇？

你住邊個city? 灣區都有兩間教廣東話+繁體字既中文學校，我大仔日校得英文，無中文，所以我安排佢一星期一日返中文學校，學廣東話同繁體字。我希望佢學廣東話係想佢將來可以同我地溝通容易d. 同埋我可以教到佢中文既功課。

我細仔3歲開始返preschool, 之前無去過daycare. 佢如果講英文，我會用中文答佢。

Actually my 2-yr-old girl also have the same problem as yours, but we still insist to speak Cantonese to her at home. Even for my older son who prefers to speak English, I told him that he can only speak Cantonese to her as she won't understand if he yelled at her in English!

When she's almost 2, she started to like watching TV (she likes Barney and LeapFrog video). At the beginning, she preferred to watch the Barney video in Cantonese that my family bought from HK. Recently I realized that she likes to watch more cantoons in English, and she picks up some simple phrazes and can sing more and more English kids songs. I'm surprised that she can even say the phonic sounds of all the alphabets as she picked it up from the video.

I do understand your worry! When my older son started preschool at 2 when he didn't know any English, I picked a preschool where one of the teachers was orignially from HK in one of their 2-yr-old classes so she could speak Cantonese to each other. Maybe becoz of that, at the beginning my son always preferred talking to that HK teacher. Once she was in a break and not in the classroom, he felt a little insecured. But later on, he was ok with other teachers.
