will it difficult for my son to catch the sg education system if i send him back sg for primary school after he finish his kindergarten in hk?
i m in hk now and m thinking to move back to sg few years later. there is no problem for me to adopt the life there since i had lived there fore 12 yrs.
Hello everyone! I have been working in Singapore in the past 2 months and will be returning to HK next week. After working here I feel I like Singapore very much and I am now considering moving here.
My daughter is nearly 3 years old and if I'm moving to SG I will need to think about which primary school she should go to. Is Tanglin Trust School a good school? Is it difficult to get in? Which other international schools are good?
What about the local schools? Which ones have good Chinese and English standard? What is the teaching method in Singapore?
Thank you for your information. My son is it still have
chance to apply River Valley Primary School? But my son
english is not good.
I also need to find a drawing class for him. Did you have
any information about this ? Please PM to me.
I also have some question to you.

I know there is a Fairprice supermarket in Killney Road. I am not sure whether you are living near this. But anyway if you live within 2 km of River Valley Primary School, the chance ...
I have went to MOE website to have a look. I thought foreign students can only register under Phase 3 during P1 registration. Do you have to help your child change his /her citizenship in order to have a chance to register under Phase 2B or 2C? If I don't change the citizenship, does it mean that I need to go under Phase 3? Will there still be any vacancies for those Top school?
If my child is a boy, does he need to serve the army when he is 18 yrs old (if I change his citizenship)? Or he can choose to be either HK or Sin citizen?
Can understand that there will be streeful for students in SG. During the 2 weeks in RGPS, my girl told me their P6 already finished teaching all subjects and doing revision tests all day long. They also have after school tuition from Monday to Thursday in school, every main subject one day. The students there also down count the days for PSLE...
Is SAP means gifted children class? There are 3 classes in RGPS P6 are gifted classes.
In SISHK, some students also go for tuition. Mainly for the subjects of Science and Maths. I was told by a student from SIS to another IS in HK, the standard for Science in Form 1 is close to SIS P4.
I am surprised to find out there are Science exercise books for Kindergarten students. I have bought one for my younger girl and found out it's not that easy in her standard. My girls likes to do the science as it's quite funny.

SAP school : SAP stands for Special Assistance Plan
this school uses both chinese and english as mother tongue. That means their chinese standard is also very high. I don't remember the no., but there shouldn't be many SAP school here.
When I came here, I don't know much about the system here. But since my daughter is studying local kindergarten and I met with other parents and some of them are very nice to tell me about the system here. But I found most of them are quite stressful under such education system and the kids have tuition around after school.
Cannot belief you only stay in SG for 1 year but already very familiar with SG's educational system.
Actually I asked RGPS as I only know this school which my girl studies there twice and each time for 2 weeks. She likes this school but she is promoted to Secondary this year. According to your message, is RGSS more popular than RGPS?
What's SAP school?

The music school you mentioned I don't have any idea. SOrry.
Hey if you need any help, you can PM to me. I also came here for 1 year and understand at this stage you may need more info about Singapore, no matter shopping or schooling....etc.

THe reason for Nan yang more popular than RGPS is :
Nan Yang is SAP school
Nan Yang primary school has affiliation to its secondary school but Raffles Girls do not have.
But actually both are good and top school. My daughter classmates also go to these schools (because they do the voluntary works in the school)
The rent nearby these schools are high because :
many of them are either landed house or condo ;
If you plan to go to these schools, you can consider to do the voluntary works; otherwise you need to move there.
However some local parents tell me that these school if your kids score not good, they need to see the parents to discuss about that.
I just arrival Singapore 5 days. I lived at River valley nearby the Fair Price supermarket. Did you know where is it?
Is it still have chance for my son to try the "River valley primary school" ?
Did you know the "Leewaisong" musical school ? I just help my son to register the piano classes. Is it good ? I know the Yamaha musical school but is it far away from my home? Thank you very much for yur information.

It is different frm Nanyang primary, which is a SAPS school which means they are using both chinese and english as mother tongue. SO lots of parents like to send the kids to Nanyang.
I think Nanynag is more popular than Raffles Girls as the latter primary school is not affliated to Raffles secondary school

Hi,
I also live near River Valley. How old are your kids?
In River Valley, there is a school called River Valley Primary School which is pretty good. Another good school are Radin Mas Primary School, CHIJ Kellocks(girlls school). These three are very popular in this area. As I don't know what is your actual location, do you know that to enter to Priamry school it has to count your distance from your home to the school??? ANother top school around your area is ACS Junior (boys only) but which is very difficult to get into except you live within1 km of the school.
For Music School, there is Yamaha in Plaza Singapura. What kind of course you are looking for your kids?
Thank you for your information. I live in River Valley.
Is it have any primary school is near by there and is it good ?
I also want to know where have the musical school for the piano.
Please give me more news or website of the kids in Singapore.
