我bb而家14個月,因為一直希望她會懂聽, 讀, 寫中文.
繁/ 簡體字你如何選擇呢?
因為已經不停地購買中文故事書給她了, 所以要盡快認真考慮這個問題了!

選繁體字:
1: 我只懂寫繁體字 (將來我是最主要的中文老師)
2: 如看前文後理當然識睇簡體字, 可是單一字就不懂
3: 保留中國傳統的象形文字文化.

選簡體字:
1:大勢所趨. 孩子長大後簡體字通行中國. (or 外國)
2:簡體容易學習, 免得繁體太難令bb失去學習興趣.
3: 在夏威夷, 越來越多學校改教簡體字 & 普通話. 教廣東話+ 繁體字好像只剩下一間.

其實, 我也很想教簡體, 可是, 最大問題在於我是女女最主要的唯一一個老師, 如果這個老師自己都不懂寫怎去教她呢??
真的很苦惱, 可以比d經驗分享/ 意見嗎?

Hi all,

I posted this link http://www.betterchinese.com/ a few months ago for Chinese learning resources. I also said I would share my comment about the DVD I bought from the website.

And you know what, I just found out that you can now view those videos on that website for free after you registered. ><

You can actually take the lessons online too. I think this is great! My son likes it and thinks it's more fun than going to Chinese school every weekend.

They have both simplified and traditional Chinese versions. Now I'm leaning towards teaching my son simplified as I think it'll be the trend. But I think it doesn't really matter, just pick one system and let your child learn it.

I am a new member who live in Upstate NY. Both of my sons taking Sunday Chinese school (Mandarin - Traditional Chinese characters) for years, we speak Cantonese at home. It is difficult at first but now seems easier for them to switch to different languages.

Oh, btw, my kids have learned Mandarin Chinese from school. At home, I try to speak Cantonese to them.

I think it's better to learn the complex characters first as it is easier to swtich to the simpified ones later.

In my case, although I grow up using the complex characters, my kids has learned the simpified ones from schools.

Now, I want to move back to Hong Kong next year or so, I don't know what to do with the system of the complex characters in Hong Kong.

我是居住於北歐,妳所說的情況和問題跟我的完全一樣...

記得是兩年前我都就這個繁簡體字問題問過大家,或者那時文章
post在教育小組/自由廣場..(太耐唔係好記得)回應不是太多..
各有不同...

我都是不懂簡體要是跟大勢我都教不到小朋友,唯有選擇自己識的(繁體)

我沒有教小朋友flash card...
所以大仔己經五歲.細的快3歲.
我都擔心他們學中文問題.

今次試下從世界各地找類似的問題,作為參考..就這麼找到這裏..

Hi MiuMiu,

I will choose traditional Chinese. The same as you, I will be my son’s Chinese teacher in the future. I have to choose something that I familiar with. Another reason is once he understands traditional Chinese, it will be easier for him to understand simplified Chinese. I didn’t understand simplified Chinese, but in these years I read more simplified Chinese books, I understand more. I don’t know if he learns simplified Chinese first, he will understand traditional Chinese in the future. However, in my case, it’s easier for me to guess the simplified words, then I learned the word.

The only thing I’m confused is when I teach him how to say a “ball” in Chinese. I don’t know I say “波波” or “球”. Another example, I say “鑰匙” or “鎖匙”????

By the way, you bought the Chinese books just $2 to $5, which website did you go?

如果老公只懂說英語的話, 要小朋友將來懂中文就更加困難了!
你要加倍努力先得嘞!

點解你地check到自己個state用繁/簡體字嘅?
我上hawaii個state web site搵咗好耐都搵唔到...

是的, 其實亞洲買書平D! 如果要買繁體字書, 台灣又會平過hk好多架!!
英文書我反而佔10%左右, 有d係中英對照書.
因為英文書遲d買/ 圖書館/ 學校借... 都會有好多.
而且可以等佢大d睇吓佢自己嘅喜好再選擇.

我會prefer用繁體，一來係正宗，二來係根據中國傳统造字法，當然孩子的興趣好重要，要怎樣令他們覺得學中文有趣，這個才是關鍵，我兩個小朋友仲係細，我都未有話真正開始教中文，只係教他們講，而家Spencer 已經可以講到好多單字同簡單句，Amanda因為有哥哥做樣，都已經識最少十幾個用語，不過，我估始终佢地母語係英文，我老公基本上係用英文，而我同老公都係用英文交談，而家對仔女有D嘢都係用英文講，好似熱佢地會講hot。

至於中文書，我都會喺香港或中國買，呢度好難搵到好，一係就好貴，SF City用繁體，但D文法就真係好～～，有時都唔知D通告講咩，好似選舉D單張同小冊子，又長又唔通，我第一次考車牌筆試差D肥佬，就係因為D中文試題都唔知問咩，答案又無寧兩可。

花旗太太生活在花旗國，留意時差，你問我未必即時答到。

I saw the Chinese bookstore here sell the Chinese kids book but the price is quite expensive. I sometimes read the baby book to my son but when he was small, I was actually reading my own books out loud more often. It could be fashion magazines or computer books. :) I read it according to my interest, not his. :D Maybe when he get older, I need to pick the book to read to him according to his interest.

NY is one of the high chinese population status, therefore, they had selected, you can go to your state/city gov website to check about it.
I am a nurse educator, I checked it in NYC.gov, to find it out, in Hawaii, they should have their state website.

我也有在台灣網上買書, 真係好平! 平均$2-$5一本就有!不過shipping我會寄船.

我上次去過呢度近china town間圖書館, d書唔係太多亦不完全合心水, 所以自己買定好多. 其實由亞b4個月開始就讀書比佢聽, 而家都同佢睇咗好多了.(當然不是教字, only read to her)

你仔仔都算幾好成績了~ 我以前的學生, 大半班(6 -8歲)也不懂寫自己的名字!
我都知自己太緊張, 時常提醒自己不要給她壓力!
不過,中文是我們的根, 中文在她長大以後很有可能就是世界第二大語言, 而自己佔有這個優勢就更想好好把握. 所以我會認真而有系統地去幫助她學習中文.
我們沒有教普通話+繁體字的學校. 我昨天send了 email去幾間心儀的學校問清楚詳情, 看看有沒有繁體可以選擇才再作決定吧.有一間更是由K-12 grade都有Chinese Program.
