On travel day and when close to 西原村, only to find 28 was closed. Was told by construction workers that Route 445 was opened at the time (and yes, I speak some Japs). Thus, re-route n plan to take 445 and then 218. But again, somewhere around 御船町, 445 was also closed!! Thus, had to re-route again and hit the IC and then took 218 all the way.
So, what I'm trying to say is that if you intend to travel via 阿蘇郡 or close to this area, prepared for the worst. Nobody, including locals or 観光協会, ain't sure if certain routes r open or not. Turns out cost me 6.5 hrs to reach 大分 that day!
