I have also given birth to twin boys in early January this year in Kwong Wah. I also strongly recommend all twins mama to consider delivering their twins in public hospital as it is less costly ( you can save the money for your twins because they consume twice as much as a single baby) and the service is unexpectly good!!
When I had the C-section, there were at least a team of 10+ medical staff in the operating theatre including 4 doctors in total (高級醫生,一個醫生,兒科醫生, 麻醉科醫生 and at least 6 or 7 nurses). I think they have such a large team becuase twins delivery can have a lot of complications.
At first, I was also going to deliver my twins in private hospital. It was my doctor who suggest me to go to public hospital, becuase he said twins delivery can be quite complicated and may have a lot more issues such that it's hard to estimate the cost! Particularly with the babies. Normally a private hospital is not as well equipped with problems that twin babies would have than a public hospital.
I was so reluctant becuase my concept of service in public hospital is very bad. But after reading so many posting in BK, and to get rid of the concept that (public hospital = cheap but not = bad service) -- well mostly 心理關口, I decided to take Kwong Wah.
To be honest, my 心理關口 comes from that all my friends and colleagues have their babies delivered in private hospitals. But then I thought, none of them bear twins!!! And my babies is more important in any aspects.
Anyway my twins were born a little bit under weight, one at 2.13kg and one at 2.34kg. So both of them have to be observed in the Special Care Unit, which only cost an extra $50 a day with a very experience team of 兒科醫生 & nurses. By they time I'm well for home (5 days 4 nights), the total bill was less than $1000.
With the money I and my husband saved, we have hired a good 陪月for 2.5 months and my husband bought me a diamond ring : )
Anyway, my conclusion is, if you want to have a peace of mind and to be very comfortable for just the few days after delivering the babies, then go to private hospital. But if you want to have the babies fully attended to by experienced doctors, public hospital is the place to go.
