my daughter had been using it since 6months, at around 13month, she knew about 85% of the learning material in YBCR....in the beginning, we only let her watch the DVD, 15min a day, then about 30min a day when she is about 1year old... then one day, she just watch the DVD and 做動作, we thought she might just act according to the sequence happening in the DVD, we prove this wrong by giving her the word cards, she know words by looking at them alone, e.g. crawl, she will crawl for us! some words she can even say it out loud! e.g. hi, bib, teeth, dog, cat, ball (this happen at 13 months!)
I find YBCR is good for babys under 1.5year old, now we need something more advanced, and we bought DWE.
my daughter still like ybcr as a revision, she like "playing" with the cards!
my personal view... you can set a schedule for your baby and watch with him/her of coz. my son wathced YBCR from 5 months, initally, he can't concentrate, just 1 mins then no interest.... ok, then i turn it off.... everyday like this, then he start to like it... 1 min, 2 mins, ..... then he can watch the whole program. just once or max twice a day (one DVD). I think it is okay, cannot let him/her to watch too much per day, try to avoid to built up his/her interest to watch TV.
Now, my son is 1.5 yrs, we trun on the TV, he just watch about 10-15 mins then walk away to play/read books.
if we turn on the DVD/Cartoon, he has more interest to watch, if the program is finished and we turn off the TV, he is okay!
