Why can’t mothers give their daughters away at a wedding?
I don’t know who told you this lie, because mothers most certainly can give their daughters away at their wedding.
Do you know how I know this? I had my mother give me away at my wedding. She walked me down the aisle and everything, no my father wasn’t dead at the time, he just didn’t bother to show up. My original plan had been for both of them to walk me and give me away, but for some unknown, to me reason he couldn’t be bothered to attend my wedding and the so the last time I ever saw him was Game 6 of the 1986 World Series at Shea Stadium.
I digress, my mother gave me away, I’ve been to other weddings where mothers have given away their daughters due to death or illness and it has always been beautiful. There’s no law against it, just patriarchal tradition and it’s easy to break that
