如題. 我可能出年批, 批完唔知是否一定要即時走, Daly City有咩好學校, 租屋貴唔貴? 生活費貴唔貴?

Hi Sue,
Yes, there're supposed some changes on student assignment policy. But, when I know more and see more information about the school district, I have less confidence to send my son to public school. With all the politics, budget cut and adoption of racial diversity rule, I am not convinced that public school can provide good education. There would be $83million deficit in 2011-2012 but the superintendents are earning $220K every year. All the budget cut items are those directly relate to the benefits of students such as cancellation of school buses, reduction of teacher training and curriculum subsidies, etc.

Ukiuki, if you are looking for a house, please go to search the boundary on-line for Tobias elementary school. Then, your daughter can go to that school directly. We don't have any choice because it is home based in Daly city. Sorry, I don't really know the rent. I know some parents they rent the basement for about $800-$1,200 monthly.

Hi Suecheung, long time no see! How are you? Are you still working in the same division? My son is starting kindergarten in Fall next year. Consider the uncertainty of the student assignment system in SF, I'm now puzzling if I should send him to private school or just move out of the city. So, you are going back to HK in Summer again? Lucky you!

I live in Daly City too. I drive all the time because I am a working mom. I have to rush to pick up the kids and take the kids to extracurriculum activity. My daughter is in daly city public school. To me, it is ok. The school is home based, that means where you live, where the school you go. You can go to the school to request tour and apply for it.
