Can hire new maid now but what if sick maid recovers and new maid arrives. Can't afford 2 maids at the same time. And if I fire sick maid after her sick leave, worry she will complain to Equal Opportunities....

You cannot fire her, but u can persuade her to quit on her own, as working may be bad for her health. But after 8 years, of couse she is waiting for the long-term service pay.
