original we had 2 maids, but "fry" 1 last month, no plan to hire a new one. my family has me & husband and 2 kids, 1 is 4 and 1 is just only 20 months. Big flat, no elderly can help.
the current maid is good, no matter doing household works or cooking, we are very satisfy with her, so we pay her $4xxx- per month. after we 'fry' the maid, of course her workload become very heavy. No more smile on her face and she shouted at my elder daughter first time last night and my daughter cried. We are afraid she will not continue contract with us in early next year.
I and hubby think of the following ways to ease the situation and hope can get some advices from some of u:
1) hire a domestic chinese part time to come once a week to do some heavy cleaning, such as window cleaning, ironing, changing bed sheet, etc.
2) increase her salary, but actually we want to reserve this when we discuss about the new contract early next year.
3) doing nothing, but apply a new maid in Oct and let her train the new maid few months. Because we can't afford without maid at home or a freshly new maid at home, I and hubby has no time to train her!
Do you think increase salary cn make her happy for long?
I don't think increasing salary is a good suggestion as her salary is higher than others already.
Our situation is similar with you, so from the beginning we hired one maid only. Our family has 4 members, one kid 4 years old and one just 7 months with 1000ft2 flat. My maid need to take care the kids, prepare dinner and go to market weekly. I think you must educate your existing maid, prepare guideline for the works required, besides, some unnecessary works, e.g. window cleanning should be done by monthly.
List out the important works first and then the minor could be done if time available. Tell your maid that you are not prepared to employ one more mild or the part time assistant. Request your mild need manage the time more properly.
Of course, I prefer to apply a new maid after finish contract.
