I've my skill assessed and it did not need the IELTS result. With reference to the point test, mimimum requirement for English is IELTS 6.0 in all 4 units and that would count 10 (or 15, can't remember exactly) points.
I guess it depends on your profession. In my case, I have to get all 7.0 or above in all subtests to get my qualification recognised! :(
I tried 3 times already, I got overall 7.5 but not 7.0 or above in all subtests

Can anyone tell me is that correct? It may be too late, I only obtain and average of 6.5 (all above 6 for the 4 units) and have submitted my application for subclass 176.
