Takes about 3 hrs one way from Genting to Johor Bauru. 1 stop on the way only (for washroom). And it goes from Genting to Johor Bahru only, then you need to change to another bus that will take you from Johor Bahru to Singapore.
There is also a coach service running from KL to Genting.
But Johor Bahru is like Shenzhen : very messy, you need to beware of pickpockets, etc. So not advisable to go to Johor Bahru if you go with 2 kids.
To me, Genting is similar to Macau, casino for adults, some mechanical playground for the kids. And don't expect the place to be very clean. Frankly, I don't like Genting, going there for once is more than enough. (I went with my niece's family n her husband is a gambler.)
Would u pls. give me more details from sig to Desaru(有冇中文名), if i take by ferry, how to get the boat? any contact or info.? How about Bitan Island? did u go there before?? any sugguested??

Hello, I'm just back from SNG. I went to an island in MAL called Desaru and stays in Pulau Desaru. It is 30 mins ferry ride from SNG (need to call a cab to the ferry terminal which is near the airport). It is a very quite island ... but as the hotel is beach side, you can easily spend 3D/2N there. Everything is so so so cheap there. We took a taxi to downtown to have seafood and the dinner is very nice (1.5kg lobster, 1kg crab, fish, 1kg shrimp, oyster ..) - unlike those in Kota Kinabalu (expensive and no good taste). Inclusive of the transportation,we paid only Rng600 for a 7-px seafood full dinner (we ordered too much, it was more like a 12-px meal).
The tours offered by the hotel are very affordable, eg. the fryflies tour only costs Rng 45 for adult and Rng 25 for kids (and is only 15 mins away from the hotel) - in KK you've to pay something like HK$400 and travel 2 hrs each way but yet you can see nothing. There the fryflies were all along the river... We also went to the fruit farm (very primitive).
The rate is very reasonable (Rng 198 for a night - they are doing a promotion) and this special packages come with a Rg 50 food coupon which cover lunch for one px (chicken rice costs Rg 20, pizza Rg 25). The room is spacious, clean alhtought basic. But make sure you go for the refurbished one.
