I would recommend u to bring along as well because temperature drops during morning and evening, especially for hk standard it is cold. For example I also put my children on down jacket when they go to school in the morning. We have very nice weather these days, sunny blue sky with approx. 15 degree cel during daytime.
ParisMimi,
One more question. Do you think we should bring along down jackets to Beijing next week? Seems that the lowest temperature is just a few degrees only recently. I really don't know what to pack for six days.
Please remember MTR in Beijing is different than HK as you can't possibly reach a destination in a "door to door" manner. Even Beijingers admit that their MTR is not so well developed. Besides, they can walk a lot, I mean it, but we aren't. Try Taxi!
Sorry, I am not so familiar with hotels...
Btw, did you mention you will come over during summer holiday? It will be very hot, so hot that you will find outdoor activities quite tiring sometimes...
Hmm, taxi shouldn't be much problem as long as you avoid the peak hours e.g. 7-9am or 5-7pm
I've never been to 蓝天城so I don't know how their "accopanied parent policy" looks like. For 比如世界parents could choose to go in or not. If not, anyway they have very strict security policy on children i.e. each child will be given a pass to hang and there is security guard at the exit, making sure that children are not leaving their oremises on their own. I saw children of 10 or 11 inside without adults accompaning them. The advantage of going to 蓝天城is that it is located inside a shopping mall, hence, after visiting it you can go straight for shopping and dinner, which is quite important in Beijing. As Beijing is so big, travelling from one place to another could be quite time-consuming.
Your kids are relative old (9 and 11)- I mean quite hands-off, it should not be a problem for you to travel with them alone here. However, I do not actually recommend taking buses or underground because buses are quite crowded and with underground it is not as convenient as MTR in Hong Kong i.e. most of the time you cannot reach a destination with a "door-to-door" manner. As such, I recommend you to take taxi and it is not so expensive to take a taxi in comparison to Hong Kong.
I am not familiar with 崇文区.For foot or body massage, I recommend the below two places which HKG people might find it acceptable in terms of hygiene and quality. Price is definitely not those below RMB100. But I think it's worthwhile. Can check check their website:
PaPa is not patient enough to play with the little one for so long and he does not prefer to separate into 2 groups. What's more, my elder daughter and I can speak better Putonghua.
