一家人有兩個升小一及小三小朋友，暑假回流加拿大，請提示有什麼必需品要買。

1. 什麼廚具適宜使用？易潔鑊、五層鑊定生鐵鑊；真空煲、壓力煲？
2. 那些食物或物品要多帶？
3. 有一些私人貴重物品，你會放係香港保險箱定手提跟身走？
4. 其他

Yes, I have heard before that normally, you need to go downtown to clear customs yourself. But the shipping company told us they will do it for us since they have our packing list. Anyway, it is good for us to avoid the trouble.

Shipping took about 3 weeks and waiting for clear customs around 10 days. But I think it also depends on high/low season.

唔好揀columbxx, 因為來包裝的工人，趕收工，包得好快好求其，坐寫字樓又唔清楚去加拿大既海關手續，十問九唔知，唉，希望我地既野可以安全到埗

it seems that u didn't go to do custom clearance? wasn't it?
i found some mom shared in another forum that they hv to do the custom clearance in person...
amyway, how long was the shipment? 3 weeks?

收到貨la ! Basically, there are 2 parts: collect from HK and delivery in Toronto

HK:
We got quotes from 3 moving companies and picked the one that seems to have good service and reasonable price. They came to pick up our boxes 3 times (the first 2 times were just 10-15 boxes because our flat did not have anymore room to walk around!) As for service, the 1st collection was good, organized with the box numbering/labelling. 2nd time was bad, often missing boxes/numbers, etc. Afterwards, we called the salesman and complained so on the 3rd time, they sent a very smart team leader with 5 other movers and everything went very smoothly and efficient.

Because we did not buy a house in Toronto yet, we put our goods in their warehouse in HK for 3.5 months before asking them to start shipping it over.

Toronto:
The HK moving company gave us the contact for their partner in Toronto. They informed us when the goods arrived and that they can clear the customs for us since they got our packing list. The customs did not open anything so we did not have to go at all. Then we arranged a date for the delivery and they delivered everything into our house and assembled all the furnitures that were taken apart before. There were 3 movers (non-chinese). The service was ok/average, they did not communicate with us much though and they did not talk to each other much either...strange!

Overall it was ok, no boxes damaged (on the outside), we haven't opened most of the boxes yet so don't know about any damage inside. Nothing missing. The Toronto movers commented that the HK movers packed the items quite well with lots of padding.

有小朋友就買定保溫飯壼，水樽，保溫杯之類返學用。仲要配定lunch bag.雖然呢邊都有賣，但係冇咁保温。
衫衭鞋襪呢邊買會比較適合。因為氣候不同，而且香港衣服又不能放入乾衣機，因為會縮水！乾衣機乾完啲衫，即刻拿出來褶仲唔洗燙。呢邊買的衫和鞋，衿着衿洗好多。

海關打開嚟check完放唔返入個箱＜哎呀，我都無諗過呢點。我D野而家在運送途中，希望到時海關唔會打開啦！不過唔用真空袋真係會用好多箱。用咗可以1個中size箱fit到兩個載滿衫嘅大紅白藍袋！我係淘寶買了100個真空袋（老公話我short咗

），但最後差不多用晒！

係呀，每樣野要揀掉唔掉係最煩！所以瞇埋眼pack晒佢算數！

OurNewLife,海關有冇打開你啲箱嚟CHECK入面啲嘢? 我喺另一個forum見到有媽媽用真空袋裝棉被, 結果個海關打開嚟check完放唔返入個箱, 佢收貨時見到張被就咁放咗喺箱面, 有啲污糟, 唔知係咪運送過程中趺過落地

諗起要執嘢/搬嘢/掉嘢/買嘢.... 好煩

我覺得小朋友衫俾香港貴。一件無牌子tshirt係香港十零蚊都買到幾好質地。呢度walmart，$4-5 再加稅，為起三四十蚊，係香港嘅double。雖然唔係大數目，不過移居真係要花好多錢，慳得一蚊得一蚊！

仲有，因為shipping係用容量計，我全部D衫，毛毯，公仔，etc（軟嘅野）都用真空袋吸晒D氣再入箱，真係慳好多好多位架！

我都是暑假前到多倫多定居，真係唔知要買咩過去好，買左d一家三口衫褲鞋襪，電腦+電話仲有幾個暖飯&水壺 for 小朋友出外時用，我想知有無其他必須品要買？

yes if buying 床單，記得買北美size - also need to know what is the thickness (height) for the mattress, we have 9, 11, 13, 15" mattress. some of the bedsheet that bought from HK (even for North america size) still not fit.

also, my experience, better buy the fitted sheet than flat sheet, as mattress so heavy, diff to lift up for making the bed...

yes, price here sometimes might be expensive than HK, but with those return/refund policy and warranty, i still prefer to buy from here..... and for long term, you still need to buy clothings and others necessities locally or you are planning to go back Hk each year to replenish your stock????
