I never stay in hdb, so really cannot compare, but condo at least have security n own facilities, like swimming pool, playground, club house etc. so for kids will be better. if u can afford, I will suggest u to rent condo
If office near expo, can consider Tanah Merah, just 1 stop next to expo mrt. $2500 budget a month for condo is abit tight, even have may only be 1 bedroom. u can consider hdb around Bedok area then catch bus to work. Try to search via stproperty.com
Apologies that I cant type Chinese with my computer. Please see my reply in English, I have moved to SG for 23 years and this is base my experience for your reference.
East Coast is not a convenience place if you are taking public transport. If you are looking for HDB, you can consider Tiong Bahru / RedHill / Lavender, these MRT stations are near to your workplace and located just by the side of the 'city' area.
Personally I have staid in RedHill for a few years, it is a quite place and has convenience access to the city area. However, I feel that Tiong Bahru would be a better choice as there is a shopping center just above the MRT station; it is just next to RedHill and it is a quite place to stay. Actually most HDB are quite in Singapore.
Please note that our MRT will get very packed during peak hours, hence you will need more time to travel including the waiting time. Also, it is better to stay not too far away from the MRT station, if not you will have to spend much time waiting for bus.
For safety wise, Singapore is a safe country with low crime rates.
If you are renting the whole house, utility will not be included, you have to pay separately base on consumption. It is best to engage a legal housing agent to handle this for you.
iv) 星州有分好方向嗎?如:是否向北是沒有太陽入屋,曬衫好難乾?
I have no experience for the direction, but I usually have no problem about drying of clothing no matter where I stay, maybe this is due to the hot weather in Singapore.
v) 我見網上有人租 HDB, 為什麼好像都要留番間房給 LANDLORD 放野? 好怪。。
If these landlord need to keep a room, there is a 99.9% chance that they are not eligible to rent out their whole house under the HDB law. They are keeping 1 room by themselves, so that if HDB come to spot check they can claim that they are still staying there. My advice is to check with your agent on this before you rent from them.
FYR:
Resales Flat owners has to stay for 3 years before they can rent out the whole house.
BTO Flat owners has to stay for 5 years before they can rent out the whole house.
vi) 星州是否有很多小昆蟲及蚊入屋?
Yes, especially when it rain. Singapore is a topical country and on top of that the government is promoting for a green city, so you should expect more insects compare to Hong Kong.
Also, you have to prepare that there will be house lizard as well.
45 mins車程基本上住地鐵沿線哪裡都可以,$2000 預算不多,租不到condo,你check 下到公司地鐵站direct line 沿線的HDB吧,angmokio, bishqn, toa payoh都是NS line direct to Raffles Place. All are very convenient hubs close to city. You can check the property rentals on propertyguru.com.sg
