To protect yourself, you should specify that you will only rent to, say companies (esp the more reputable ones), or employees of big firms (ask for name card then check with your friend(s) who are working there).
You should also do company search, of course, on the co.
Otherwise it is really troublesome to be a landlord !
As you are the landlord, you the ultimate say re rent to somebody or not. Don't trust property agents tooooo much !
I have also heard (several yrs ago) that some landlords ask for signed cheques from their tenants, so if in case a cheque bounces ==> the landlord can go to small claims tribunal (which, I think, is faster than going to lands tribunal).
