Hi, just wonder if anyone in my situation. I am thinking of staying in HK for some more years while wife and kids live in Melbourne. If wife works part-time in Aus, will the tax matter be very complicated? Does she need to include the financial support received from me??

回覆 3# DLPapa 的文章

On the tax return, she only need to declare what she EARN for income tax calculation.

Unless you think she works for you (just kidding)..

However, she might still need to declare your HK income on her tax return. (I am not sure).

I am pretty sure she doesn't need to pay tax/declare your support. Just like when I was still studying I was also working part time, but I never had to delcare or pay any tax on the finaicial support I received from my parents in HK. However if you are claiming any assistance from Centrelink/Family Assistance office then it may be a different story. May be worthwhile contacting ATO to confirm
