House Rules
Please follow all the house rules below. Otherwise you will be warned or dismissed
1. Most Important Rules
You will be REPORTED TO POLICE AND TERMINATED IMMEDIATELY, without 1 month salary in lieu of notice, if you are found committing any offence listed below:
a. You are NOT ALLOWED to physically (Hitting, snapping or shaking) or sexually abuse our baby in any circumstances.
b. You are NOT ALLOWED to leave our baby in outsider’s (Your friends and relatives, any claimed to be employer’s friends/relatives) hands or ask outsiders to take care of our baby without employer’s permission in any circumstances.
c. You are NOT ALLOWED to leave the house on your own or with baby without employer’s permission, except for disastrous situation such as fire outbreaks.
d. You are NOT ALLOWED to USE, KEEP, BORROW or EXCHANGE employers belongings without employer’s permission (including: money, valuable, clothes, food, cosmetics, etc).
e. You are NOT ALLOWED to SMOKE, CONSUME ALCOHOL, TAKE ILLEAGAL DRUG OR GAMBLE during duty or while in the house.
f. You are NOT ALLOWED to bring any friends or relative into the house without employer’s permission.
g. You are NOT ALLOWED to get loan from finance company or be a guarantor for anyone.
h. You are NOT ALLOWED to quote or use employer’s address for personal use (e.g. applying credit card or applying home phone line) without employer’s permission.
i. You are NOT ALLOWED to take any part time job.
j. You are NOT ALLOWED to leave Hong Kong during your contract period without employer’s permission.
k. You are NOT ALLOWED to willfully disobey a lawful and reasonable instruction or neglect your duties habitually without rational reason, you must follow employer’s instruction and work schedule closely.
2. Working Hour and During Working Hour
a. Your official working hour is: 6:30am – 10:30pm. You must finish all scheduled or instructed work before going to bed, and ask if there is anything else before going into your room.
b. Taking a daytime nap is totally unacceptable as you should monitor the baby, unless you are sick and get permission from employer.
c. You should not take any personal telephone calls NOR sending personal SMS calls during working hours without employer’s permission.
d. You must follow employer’s instructions and working schedule closely.
3. About Baby
a. Taking care of Baby is on TOP PRIORITY amongst all duties. You should take care of baby whenever baby cries.
b. You are NOT ALLOWED to leave baby unattended in any circumstances. Always pay attention to baby even when doing household work.
c. You are NOT ALLOWED to beat or hurt baby even when baby is naughty. Punishments can only be made by employer, but you can report the case to employer afterwards.
d. You should keep all kinds of medicine, detergent and cutting tools or knives in a safe place, out of reach of the baby. You should not let baby play in fenced area or near dangerous places e.g. stoves, electric socket, close to the window, etc.
e. NEVER leave baby alone in the bathtub when bathing.
f. When bathing, both in summer and winter, get the water ready first before taking off baby’s clothes and test the water temperature before bathing. Do not let baby get cold.
g. Report to employer if there is any unusual behavior or sickness symptom of baby.
h. Always test the milk temperature BEFORE feeding baby.
i. Follow the feeding schedule for baby, do not skip meals or give baby snacks on your own will.
j. Be quite when baby is taking afternoon nap, work silently.
k. Do not turn on the TV unless it’s time for BB to watch English learning VCD.
l. Always hold baby’s hand while you are walking down the streets with baby, do not let him get loose and run in to road even when there is no traffic on the road.
m. Always lock baby up in proper way when using baby car.
n. Pay special attention to road safety. Use proper facilities such as zebra crossing, subway or passenger bridge to cross the road.
o. Always keep an eye on baby when baby’s playing in the park, if baby’s climbing up high, you should stay close to baby instead of sitting and watching from far side.
p. You are NOT ALLOWED to keep long nails or use nail polisher.
q. You are NOT ALLOWED to wear any make up or fragrance, except for holiday.
4. Money and Household Utilities
a.
Be very careful when using all electrical appliances, furniture and other utilities and be gentle while cleaning them. In case of breaking anything, we have the right to deduct money from your salary by installment (max. HK$300 every month according to the HK Labor law)
b.
Do not waste water, gas, electricity, food and cleaning product.
c.
You should ensure all lights, fans, all air-conditioners and any other electrical appliances are turned off before leaving the house.
d.
Never switch on the air-conditioner & TV when you are at home alone (it’s difficult to concentrate on taking care of baby while watching TV/speak on the phone, etc)
e.
You are NOT ALLOWED to use employer’s computer, hi-fi, DVD, video recorder without employer’s permission.
f.
Don’t read or use employer’s letters, files, books, photos albums or any documents for personal privacy.
g.
If you need to use IDD, please use your own mobile and buy your own phone card. You cannot use employer’s phone to call IDD or local call.
h.
Never accept collect call, it’s much more expensive. If you use it without permission, charges will be born to you and deducted from your salary in the same month.
i.
You should inform the employer before any household items and food stuff is out of stock. As instructed by the employer, the helper should go to the market to purchase the required items.
j.
Always log the amount on the “petty cash book” with receipts while marketing (except fresh markets which don’t have such).
k.
All marketing is expected to be done within 60 min depending on the distance and load, please come home straight and do not linger on street when you have finished marketing.
l.
Buy your own snack and holiday food using your own money.
m.
Before washing the clothes, you must check the instruction on the clothes label, separate those which needed to be hand washed, washed separately or dry clean. Please ask the employer if you are not sure.
5. Safety
a.
Dial 999 to call for police and ambulance when there is fire or serious accident.
Call your employer immediately too.
b.
Never let any strangers enter the house, ALWAYS call employer to check and get permission first.
c.
NEVER littering or throwing things out of the window, It’s illegal and you’ll be fined (employers will not be responsible for any penalty!)
d.
If you smell any gas, open all the windows and switch off the main gas switch. DO NOT touch any electrical appliance nor use the telephone.
Any electrical spark may cause explosion. Bring the children to the security counter downstairs immediately inform the security guard on duty and use the phone there to call your employer.
e.
Never soak any electrical appliances into water while cleaning, please use non dripping wet cloth.
NEVER put any metal parts (e.g. metal spoon, fork, aluminum foil) into microwave, it will explode.
6. Hygiene
a. You should wake up at 7am (with alarm at your room) and tidy up your bed immediately.
b. Keep your personal stuff inside of your cabinet, and be clean and tidy,
c. You are required to have shower and change clothes daily for personal hygiene, please spend no more than 20 min for shower and help reserve water.
d. You are required to buy your own personal hygiene products, including: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, all skin care products, pads or tampon, etc. DO NOT use employer’s products unless you get permission or it’s a offer by employer.
e. You are allowed to use the washing machine and dehumidifier twice a week maximum for washing your own clothes, towels, bed, quilt covers and pillow case, ALWAYS separate your cloths with employer’s and baby’s.
f. AlWAYS keep the toilet floor DRY!! Especially after washing in wash basin OR taking shower, use the mop to dry it immediately to avoid slippery floor.
g. ALWAYS wash your hand with soap immediately
BEFORE :
1. Processing any food. ESPECIALLY BABY’S FOOD.
2. Preparing milk for baby.
3. Cleaning baby’s face or body.
AFTER:
1. Using the toilet yourself.
2. Cleaning toilet or the floor.
3. Touching any chemicals. E.g. Toilet cleanser, Floor Cleanser, Bleach etc.
4. Changing diapers for baby.
5. Empty rubbish bin.
6. Coming home from outside.
For example:
h. ¬Cloth should be used for specific purpose, NEVER mix them together for your convenience! e.g Cloth for cleaning toilet can NEVER BE USED for baby, including, baby, kitchen and dinning room !!!
i. Cloth for baby can NEVER BE USED for any other purpose (including, kitchen, toilet, dinning room)
7. Holiday
a. ¬You are NOT ALLOWED to stay outside overnight, this also applies on your holidays.
b. Please return home before 9:30p.m. sharp on holidays and all public holidays. If you need to return a little bit late (but not always), MUST CALL us in 1 hour advance.
c. For your first 3 months, you are entitled to all statutory holidays without pay. From the 4th month up to the expiration of your contract, you are entitled to all statutory holidays with pay.
d. No holiday can be taken prior to completion of the contract. In case of emergency, you would need to pre-pay one month salary to employer as a one-month in lieu of notice, just in case the employee does not return to HK, and employee can take the money back after her return to employer in HK.
e. Employer might request you to work on holiday if necessary, alternative compensation can be discussed.
8. Manners and Communication
a.
Always respect employer and be polite, NEVER show long face and no talk back.
b.
If you don’t understand employer’s instruction, please ask employer immediately. Don’t guess, or pretend you understand.
c.
If you are not sure how to do certain things, or whether to do it or not, ask the employer first, afterward “I don’t know” “I forgot” etc, is not an acceptable way of dealing things.
d.
If you have done something wrong, you should report to employer immediately and apologize, much better than keeping silent and let employer find out afterwards.
e.
Madam will take care of everything of the family. Talk to Madam if you have any questions or problems. NEVER bring them to Sir privately.
f.
If you need anything, having any problem or feeling unhappy, be frank and discuss with employer.
g.
Always knock the door before entering your employer’s bedroom or the rooms for other family members.
h.
DO NOT wear tight jeans, hot pants, see-though, low-cut or tight T-shirt in working days.
i.
No pajamas in common area.
j.
Please work silently while the employer or other family member is asleep.
k.
DO NOT rest or lay on employer’s bed.
9. Sickness
a.
If you feel sick, please tell employer immediately, do not wait or take drugs by yourself.
b.
YOU HAVE TO VISIT DOCTOR if necessary and taking medicine following Dr’s advice and instruction, and wearing face mask if necessary as to avoid spreading out virus to baby and family.
