I used to bf my son at 7:30pm and he'll only wake up for milk at 8 something am (10am one morning!). I thought he loves to sleep like me but these days he wakes up at 7

Favourite taste?...my baby loves mama milk, the Japanese brand teething biscuits, and ... whatever we eat (he stares at us longing whenever we have meals outside). He grabbed my hand when I was eating french fries

You're so lucky that your baby like to sleep. When does he go to sleep at night? These few days my baby wake up at mid night two times. We can't sleep well because of her interruption.
I think you better eat fresh vegetales and food so baby will grabbed your hand, then you can feed him some. :wink: That may be a method to direct your son for solid!

Thanks for your response.. i know i need to add oil lar.. my baby eat the congee and rice cereal again from this week... we make 1meal rice creal or congee per day.. preliminary, he eat around 2-3 tablespoon..per meal...hope he would eat more later lar.. i know only milk is not enough for a 9-month old baby... add oil add oil for all of us..bf mons

Is your baby still waking up during the night? Is she teething? My baby goes to sleep at around 9 every night. I think he's teething these days and wakes up crying at 6 :cry:

All moms,
I have a blocked duct in my right breast since yesterday morning. I had this problem once before. I just BF my son more often and massaged the lump and the problem disappeared in 1 day. Not this time :-( I don't feel it 'guk' now but the lump is still there. It's not hot like last time and only hurts if I press it. Should I see a OB if the problem persists tomorrow or can I still wait few more days? Never like to see a doctor...

If it's not hot, try exclusively bf on that side, and use hot pad to massage the blocked area. Last time I had similar problem and it works. At this stage it's no use to visit a doctor because no medicine can cure this blockage, only Xavier can help.

I still have a small lump but it's getting better. Someone has recommended a lactation consultant who is good at massaging blocked ducts. I may get her help next week if the problem persists.

The following may help if any mom has similar problem:
-----------
Milk flows through a duct system in the mother’s breasts. Sometimes an area of the ducts becomes blocked and milk no longer flows as well. A section of the breast may or may not be red. When a mother has a plugged duct, her breast is usually tender and painful. If the blockage is not treated, the area may become infected.

A sore breast or plugged duct can become a breast infection. This means that not only is the breast tender, but also the mother feels achy, run-down and feverish. Mastitis is another term that may be used. This condition may or may not be treated by antibiotics.

Whether coping with a plugged duct or a breast infection, the initial care is similar. Nurse frequently, rest and apply heat to the tender area.

Frequent nursings serve to provide comfort, reduce inflammation and encourage opening the blocked area. Mothers find that varying breastfeeding positions drains all areas of the breast more effectively. For example, if you most commonly use the cradle hold, try the clutch (“football”) hold or lying down to breastfeed.

Rest is an important component in recovery from sore breasts, plugged ducts or breast infections. To do this, try resting in bed with baby cuddled next to you. This will also encourage frequent breastfeeding sessions to drain the breast. Keep supplies such as diapers, toys, books, the telephone, a glass and a pitcher of water nearby to minimize trips out of bed.

Applying wet or dry heat with a heating pad or hot water bottle and gently massaging the sore area of the breast before breastfeeding can assist the breast in further emptying. Many mothers find that taking showers or baths and gently massaging with a warm cloth on the sore breast is a relaxing treatment during a stressful time. Another technique is to lean over a basin of warm water and soak the sore breast for about 10 minutes three times a day. This will also remove any dried milk secretions that may be blocking the flow of milk out of the nipple. Breastfeed immediately, while the breast is warm, to help unplug the blocked duct.

Please note that it is a common myth that it is unhealthy for the baby to breastfeed when the mother has a breast infection. This is definitely not true. The antibacterial properties of human milk protect the baby from infection.

Many mothers find that changing positions works well. The place of the baby’s strongest suck is where his chin is. Thus try to get the baby’s chin on the lump. This may not be simple because often the lump is around the top of the breast. If so, try lying down flat on your back and put the baby over you. In this way the baby can rotate, like the hands of a clock, around your nipple so that the chin is on the lump. Another way is to feeding lying down but have the baby’s feet pointing towards the pillow.

Yes, my baby is teething these few weeks. These two days her situation was much more severe... eat little...hot temper...sleepy in day time...slyvia...crying...lost weight.....

What a hard day to her and family members!

Luckily, I still can bf her in the moring and night time. I hope you situation will be better soon.

Dear all bf mum,
After trips these few weeks, my milk supply can only support a meal in between the congee in the afternoon. Both Morning and before sleep meal are replaced with formual (Snow Brand). . . I really miss the feeling of my girl sucking on my nipple ( I only pump my milk out) , the feeling of closiness between baby and mum. . . but I think it's about time to quit, due to my busy work . . . .

I never think of I can exclusively bf my girl for 10 months. I am really pround of myself. . .

Dear Laputa,

You've done a very good job. For me, I can only mange to bf hayhay exclusively upto 6 months.

Now, I can only pump about 2 oz for hayhay on the other day and I'll feed him in the morning before go to work and before sleep (but have to take formula supplement afterwards lor). I think of giving formula to hayhay directly instead, but I really miss the feeling and don't want to quit yet. Anyway, that's the precious time just between BB and me and is so sweet.........

BTW, why don't you keep on bf your girl in the morning/night?

All moms,

My milk supply also drop.....and my baby drink more from this week..around 6oz per meal..I could probably pump around 10 oz per day..only sufficient to feed him when i am at work...popo would feed the baby with 1 rice cereal and 1 meal of milk in the morning and afternoon.. when i am back, i bf him directly..i think that my milk supply is not enough for him from now on.. but anyway, i will try my best and bf him as long as possible..add oil all moms..

...no one understand the sweet moment when we bf our own baby ... this is the secret bet'n u and the baby...hahahahaha

Hi all,

Haven't chat for a while and just want to say hi.......

For me, I'm still trying hard to bf Hayhay. My milk supply dropped further after I went to Bangkok with my husband for 3 days in mid-June. I can hardly pump out any milk and have stopped pumping for 2 weeks la, just feeding Hayhay in the morning and night. One interesting point is, Hayhay did not suck for a long time and seems not sucking for his hunger, but just want to stay with me. Maybe he knows he's going to have other food/formula if he's hungry later.

Anyway, our baby is getting 1 year old soon and I hope by that time, I'm still bf him. That's will be a great achievement for me (and for all of us) la

Hi all
I am also a bf mum, and still keep on to feed my baby. Same as sandythepooh that just wake up & sleeping milk on week day, but during holidays, she will stick on me & suck whenever she wanted.

Especially these 3 days, she's got sick, not willing to eat bread & congee, only mama milk can fulfil her - poor little girl. :-( :-(
