"loon kei", you mean Kenny's noodle @ the corner in First Marham? If so, you should try their "shrimp caviar with lo-mean" (ha chee lo mean) A little bit expensive but it's worth to try.

Lately, I tried out the new type of instant noodle - "Sun noodle" They come with three favours. (Abalone, Wonton, Beef). I just fall in love with those instant noodle.

I tried these too, one pack of each favour at the first time. Then, ... I bought 5 of each. One pack for the three of us is enough at a time.

各位媽媽,
我婆婆是住在溫哥華的~我亞媽想月尾去探佢,咁其實應該買d咩野比佢地最好呢?同埋月尾會唔會好凍呢?我婆婆和舅父已住了成廿幾年了,今次是我媽第一次出門去咁遠探佢,唔知仲有咩要注意呢?
有d咩野係果邊買唔到架~海味好嗎?
另外~要帶幾多錢先最好呀?果邊d野貴唔貴呀?
機票約幾錢呀?

no thank you la, two are enough. have one more means have to "SUFFER" from the beginning again. just "luck lan" from toddler stage not long ago. no more engery and to go through again.

vancouver is not very cold, i saw from weather forecast yesterday that they have about 2-7C, much warmer than toronto. this temperature is about 15C + in hk. actually, you can buy everything in vancouver too, not like 10 or 20 years ago la. for the living standard, i am not sure. maybe other ma who are in vancouver can help. i am in toronto.

Don't know. I need a crash course 101 first. It's been too long since I used the "TOOL".

Speaking of raising a family, I remembered serveral years ago, I went to Quito (south America). local statistic shows the populuation was extremely low and so the government decides on every Valentine's day, they shut down the power on entire city so that men can go home and produce kids. My gf (now my wife) was with me that time and I must admit, it's very romantic that night without night.

We were helping each other scatching our back because of mosquito bits, not to mention the gunfire like fireworks outside our hotel due to robbery and break-in with the blackouts.

You can buy anything in Vancouver. So, those dried-seafood stuff can leave behind in HK. It depends how luxery they want, otherwise, the living standard is not that high.

However, it's a rainy season right now, bring an unmbrella.

kitty,係呀，溫哥華真係乜都有呀。你不如直接d問下佢地想要咩。但係你要小心，好多海味呀，食得果d野都唔入得境家。
vancouver都几暖。。。但係我地係用加拿大人既覺度去睇，我估佢既10 几度好似hk感啦。老人家帶多件衫好d。

錢？我平時有廿蚊係袋就算好有錢啦，呢度好多地方都收卡。我都唔知你要帶几錢呀？睇下你會唔會成日出街買野食野啦。呢樣就真係幫唔到你啦。

機票都唔係好貴，我估1200 cad都得掛？

野食就真係唔好帶喇!上次個朋友響溫哥華清關,佢帶左包牛肉干要佢食晒先俾走,掉都唔准掉....佢仲要趕下班機架.....我地笑左佢幾耐呀..

其實我細個時我亞婆都話叫我亞媽申請我地過去,但我亞媽又唔想,聽亞婆講話以前容易d申請~如果小朋友仲有牛奶派,唔知係咪真! :-P

佢地分隔兩地都好多年了~我亞婆同舅父就係果邊,而亞媽就係香港,都幾慘~

I am not living in Canada yet, but we may go there later this year due to migration. We will come as a family with a baby daughter(now 3 months old). Can anyone tell me more about Vancouver as we want to collect more information before we actually go there. Do you think we should pay a visit first before we actually "land"?
What should we consider to bring from HK?
What is the living standard in Vancouver?
What is the job situation?
Anything we have to consider to bring for a baby?
Any useful website that I can have a clear picture about Vancouver?

i go to BK usually at office hour (i'm in office now), so english only. i can type chinese at home, but seldom visit BK at home as a lot of work waiting for me ar.

I would say nothing. However, blinds/curtains are expensive in here, so if you bought the house, get the curtains done in HK/China.

Get used to TAX - There are PST and GST. Depends how your lifestyle, it varies.

Jobs aren't that good in Vancouver, most goes to Calgary to find job.

As regarding for the baby, CLOTHES... Cheap in HK.

Where about are you staying in Vancouver? Most new immigrants live in Richmond.
