i guess u also need to have a plan b if it's so hard to get into that private school rite? if the kid is gifted, the teacher would recommend the kid to the gifted class in 3 or 4th grade anyway even if it's out of zone. if u r not zoned to a good public school, u might wanna check out local parish school too. I was told that upk (universal preschool) teacher now has to get a master degree in early education, i personally think it's redundant...

Nice to meet you guys too.. Next time, if you guys have gathering.. please let me know see if I can attend...

My daughter had fever last two nights in a row, just at night.. nothing in the morning, she is fine.. no nose running, cough.. nothing, just fever at night. My mother-in-law said she is teething.. And I brought her to the doctor, doctor just said she is fine. No problem...So I hope it really just because teething..(but I don't see any teeth coming

) And now I am too busy at work.. I wish I could spend more time at home with her...

Don't be too stressful, just let Amanda enjoy, maybe she is too smart and finish early..., right? Sometime, we can't understand kid's mind...

By the way, last time you did mention the dvd set - baby can read, can u give me more information about that. I would like to get a set for my daughter.

after I read that website, I don't think that Amanda is a gifted kid.. I am kinda relax and have a big relief.
The Private school called, they said that Amanda actually is at least 1 to 1.5 years younger than the children in K class, so they said that she will have lot of difficulty to make friends with other.
They now offer Amanda to attend their pre-K class, and already told the class teacher, to pay extra attention and extra school work to keep Amanda busy.
I have called back to the school and accept this offer.. that is my plan (from begining.. go to their pre-k right now).. I feel happy about it.

actually our #1 choice of private doesn't specify it's a gifted school from their school name. we pick it becoz we like the school and not becoz we think our son is gifted or the school is gifted.
we've also applied another private school and he already been to the evaluation. i think it should be fine for him to get in that one. but now i'm thinking i might not want him to go to that one even if he got in. that's a small private school and the tuition is also expensive (almost $2000 a month if stay til 6pm) although cheaper than our #1 choice.

initially we thought we might be sending him to a good public school if he doesn't get in that one and we can save lots of money on the tuition and get a bigger house. however, just realized the priority 1 registration of our #1 choice public school district already started in early Jan and will end this Fri. and i heard that the popular schools in the district are always overflown. we still haven't found a house or a place to move yet, so i don't think we can make it for the priority 1 registration for the public schools.

as u said, we need to have a back-up plan. so we'll try to visit a few more private schools these couple weeks.

that sounds like a good plan. then amanda can hang out with other kids in the same age range, while she could have little extra learning to keep her being challenged.
i heard that some schools would do that if the kid already know the basics for that grade level.

hope amanda will like her new school!

wow. that's just too much for just kindergarten...u must be loaded .

have you checked out the catholic schools? they should only be a couple thousand a year, which is definitely cheaper than the private schools u mentioned.
academic wise catholic schools tend to be tougher than public schools and they also do good discipline. alot of chinese kids graduated from public high school and go straight to ivy league. I'd rather save more money for college or grad school la.....

congratulations on finally making a decision for amanda. if amanda scored high in the gifted test, u might also want to discuss the scores with the teacher and see what she could do to keep her challenge in class. catholic school teachers tend to pay more personal attention to the kids' progress in class due to the smaller class size.

It's a win-win situation

Amanda can stay with kids of her age and learn some extra knowledge. Hope that she like the school and enjoy going there.

Education system is really crazy all over the country, particularly in Bay Area. In SF, it's even more ridiculous. Some school directors advised the parents to enroll the kids to their schools before they born but it is still not guaranteed. Also, the charges vary so much. I'm still doing some research for both pre-schools and kindergartens. At least, my husband admitted that we need to start looking for school for Spencer (which I had mentioned to him before Amanda bornt and our little girl is now close to 6 months old:tongue: ). Well, it's what men think that women always over-worry and over-react.

各位媽咪,
首先, 我唔知發生乜嘢事.. USA mami forum向來最peaceful.. 我唔識嗰位私下pm bearbearmtthew嘅mami. 我亦冇任何commend. bearbearmatthew 今晚巳經called 我, 我已教佢, 如果俾人騷擾, 便向post master fionma 求助.
我要澄清... 我唔係聖人... 我都會睇漏, 覆漏message.. 希望大家唔好介意... 懇請唔好擺我上枱...thankyou...

加上平時唔係每個gathering都open invitation, 有時gathering 係1-2日前.. 心血來潮.. 1個phone call 就攪...亦唔一定喺我屋企, winter 我唔攪大gathering... 人太多, 好難manage. Amanda 又係"打不死1號" 我唔想佢玩得顛時,整到人哋..
我平時只攪small gathering(3,4個families), 通常請Amanda 啲fans 一齊揸車入嚟玩.. Amanda佢哋打開, 玩開, 家長們(我哋)都見怪不怪...

我已從申好多次... 我唔一定係host master.. 各mami 可以自己喺 forum set up gathering呢...
Be honest, 每一位媽咪都有識&揀志同道合嘅朋友嘅自由呢
