Some more info for you to consider before you decide to see the paed.

I have referred two friends' babies (2 to 3 years old) to the paed. Both of them do not have the results as good as my son's. According to my friends, their sons' conditions have improved about 50 to 70%. Anyway, their sons have both gained significant weight after a few consultation. The doctor said this is because of the balanced diet.

As I told one of the mommies, the doctor does not just give supplements like zinc, DHA or ALA, he also gives advice on diet. However, the consultation fee is not cheap at all. The lab test (i.e. the Mineranalysis) costs about $900 each time. I have paid for 2 tests overall. One was on the first visit and the second one is 9 months later. Each consultation will cost me $500 to $1000, depending on the types of supplement and ointment prescribed in that visit. Usually, the supplement given each time will last for 3 weeks. However, I do not often re-visit again exactly 3 weeks later. Sometimes, I will revisit again longer than that, depending on how busy I am at that time.

The progress in the first two months is very amazing. However, the progress is quite slow afterwards. (This is also the reason why my two friends cease the consultation after 2-3 months) Probably, the residual amount of heavy metals is difficult to be removed, I think. Or, because my son has grown old enough that his organs have developed much better to dispose the heavy metals. I am not sure. Anyway, I am pleased that his skin's conditions now.

I probably will not have another baby. I will not know which hand to hold if they are both scratching at the same time!

Dear Vileung,

Dr. Lam is the paed of my son. We do not go to him very often as his consultation fees cannot be covered in our insurance plan. For common sickness, we just go to our GP. However, for severe sickness, we will visit Dr. Lam. So, since my son's birth, on and off, we will visit Dr. Lam, but not so often.

The skin (or eczema) problem was first brought to Dr. Lam when my son was 0.5 year old. But at that time, he just diagnosed that as allergy. We went there about once a month. He just prescibed some allergy medicine and Betasone cream for my son at that time. We have also tried out everything to find out the cause of the allergy e.g. dust mite, plastic bottle, egg yolk, beef, grapes, floor mat, etc. A lot of effort with nothing conclusive. On one day, about one year later, when my son was 1.5 year old, he got very high fever, we visited Dr. Lam again. He proposed the Mineranalysis & treatment to us in that visit and we took his suggestion on the spot.

I am not sure if your bb's case is as severe as my son's. However, judging from your bb's picture posted here, your bb got similar 'red' face as my son previously had. In my case, Dr. Lam did not propose Mineranalysis right at the very beginning (when my son was 0.5 yr old). But over one year, no substantial improvement on my son's skin. I believe there was nothing he could do with medicine for my son's case. So, he offered another alternative, besides western medicine for me.

For your reference, my friends' babies were about 2-3 years old when they first met Dr. Lam.

I know, money is a concern. However, health and risks are the most important concerns. Mineranalysis is so new and not so common yet. I really understand how you feel now. God blessed.

Could you share how old your baby and your friends' babies were when they first started visiting Dr. Lam?

Because I read about these treatment before, but only in English, and have not encountered any doctors in HK would exercise that. My BB is only 6.5 months , and I want see if he's too young for this?

I think your wording may be a bit strong. The opinions of Quackwatch as suggested by you may not be necessarily reliable either. They are just different opinions as well. So, it is not reasonally grounded enough for you to say 'waste money'. Bear in mind, there are always different views and opinions in our society.

I believe, as parents, to protect our youngs and give them the best, we have to be cautious when we try out new things on them. I agree that we have to gather as much info as we can and then evaluate. So, along this line, the parents should read through your suggested links in order to make an informed decision.

I cannot see any point to argue with you here about the reliability of the test because all of us here are not experts. Moreover, Mineranalysis is still a new emerging way of treatment. Not much data are known yet. The reason why I share my experience is to suggest a way for the those parents whose kids got severe eczema problems. I am not sure how severe your kid's case is. However, if you see your kid scratching all days and nights without a patch of good skin, you may feel how helpless and hopeless is.
