Have just read these 2 books with my little one last night:
This series of handy Thomas story books are published by Egmont. I bought these books from Sogo 6/F at $29.8@ (now on sale, org $35) . There're a total of 30 titles in the series, and each featured a short story of a specific engine.
I'm shock that Skarloey is now 100 years old. Though he is old, he is still a very useful engine.
Before I was quite confused why both Thomas and Skarloey were numbered as "1", both Edward and Rheneas were numbered as "2", and both Henry and Sir Handel were numbered as "3" etc. And I found the answer after reading.....
Actually all Skarloey (#1), Rheneas (#2), Sir Handel(#3), Peter Sam (#4), Rusty (#5), Duncan (#6) and Ivo Hugh (#7) are "narrow-gauge" (i.e. shorter length between rails of the railways) engines. And all of them should have been retired (as they are v old) and replaced by "standard-gauge" engines like Thomas, Gordon, James etc.
In the old days, they were managed by Thin Controller (not "Fat Controller" wor) in the Island of Sodor.
My son said Thin Controller managed old engines because the railways were thinner, and Fat Controller managed engines of fatter railways with no doubt..
PS. I found the stories of this series are v interesting and well-written. Children would like to know more "history" and "relationship" of Thomas and his friends. Thomas-lovers should not miss it!!
