Socloudy,
huh. 留鼻血迫住要賣? hahaha u r too funny. my friend who sold her condo, used to wear tank top during winter time , now she is wearing down in her house ma. cuz now she has to pay for the heat ;p but anyway, have you tried using a humidifier ah ? that might help to stop Corey 留鼻血.
there're lots of school in # 25 & 26 so i guess u could go to nyc dept of ed to check out the school report to make sure which school u r zone to before you buy another house.
about 留鼻血 alvin last time 溜得好多,好嚇人 too. the reason is my 99 gave him crocodile meat soup. tell me how i could live with her for so long....................
what happens if yr son doesn't do well for the statewide test? is it required for 3rd grade and up in NY?
socloudy,
since corey is so 燥底, do u let him take the school lunches as they're usually deep-fried or so-called 熱氣 in chinese?

Socloudy,
if u really turn off the heat then Corey might have running nose la, have u tried seeing different pedi to see if they have any other solution? u might want to have him check up again if it's persistent. hopefully he is gonna be better when he gets older. cuz in school they do give out quite alot of "hot air" food..like fried chicken for lunch..u have to tell corey to be a good boy and pick something else. if not, like andrew 8, got sick easily after "hot air" food, would have sore throat and cough then throw up...he's home sick with fever today. austin 6 is coughing too and his catholic school dont even allow kids to have a sweater on...poor kid..have to transfer him out sooner or later cuz i personally cant stand their stupid school rules. alvin, 2 has running nose and i was told cold medicine is not safe...........
SY Mom,
some kids got 1 and they got held back, meaning repeating 3 rd grade again. can't imagine how some chinese's parents dont even know any english and their kids could go to gifted class and get all 4......tell me how that works...

my dad's cousin's grandson was exactly in that case. his parents came from china but didn't know too much english; however, he just went to a "so-so" public elementary and middle schools, but he got in Lowell high school last year and he's even one of the youngest in the class. Lowell is one of the best public high schools (nationwide) and u hv to pass their entrance exam (not just live in their neighborhood) in order to get in. it's equivalent to the top private college prep schools.
even i seldom meet their family, i was so excited and couldn't wait to get him a little prize.
so i think it really depends on the individual kid. some kids who have self-discipline and not easily influenced by the peers, they're just fine even if they don't go to the top schools. unfortunately that's not the case for my boy.

SY Mom,
the school doesn't let the kids to wear sweater. is it becoz it's too warm in the classrooms with the heater on?

SY-Mom, Socloudy,
true. it really depends on the kid himself. anyway, i used to think that going to good high school and college is not a big deal cuz it doesnt mean he will be successful after he graduated. socloudy has to agree with me, it really depends on his/her interpersonal skills and on who he/she knows. but still, so many non-english speaking chinese parents r pushing their kids to the best schools la. and they dont mind spending alot of $$ on tutoring the kids even they dont make that much. they r so proud of their kids, unlike us, every parent teacher conference i almost have to cover my face cuz i feel so embarassed :ppp
I really dont think corey need that operation la. just make sure he wont eat too much "hot air" food in school, should be fine. school never has enough heat, both of my boys complained that it's freezing in school. andrew wore like 5 layers. poor austin, cuz his catholic school makes everyone wear blue shirt with no sweater on, so i put a sweater under and i got a note from his teacher...austin, is now sick at home cuz he has stomachache all nite, i feel so bad like i am abusing him for sending him to catholic school..socloudy, no one really gives out seats on the train when i was pregnant, and the ones who do r women, i feel bad for the man..they just pretend to sleep or read..

for the two preschools that sean attended, they said they would microwave the lunch for u at the beginning; however, later they changed the policy that they wouldn't reheat the food for the kids any more. so they recommended either u take the school lunch or bring yr lunch in a thermo lunch box.

Alison,
