Questions for traveling

Hi all moms:

Start thinking about our trip to HK, 有啲問題 ...

(1) Terence 宜家用 Born Free 奶樽, 樽口比較闊, Born Free 又冇 bottle liner ... 想問吓用其他 brand fit 唔 fit 到? Avent 有冇 liner? Avent 個樽都好似幾肥

(2) Liner 用完就掉, 咁 nipple 係咪揾水洗乾淨抹乾就可以再用? 定係要買多幾個 nipple? ... btw, i mean 係飛機上面

(3) 點樣可以 check 到個 carseat 可唔可以喺飛機上面用? CX 淨係話要 (a) forward facing, (b) Designed for carrying an infant inclusively between the age of 6 months and 3 years, and weighs 18kgs or less; (c) Must be in operational condition ... Terence 宜家用緊 Graco SafeSeat

hihi, i am from NY with a 6-month old son Terence ... can't help you much with the questions about Houston

For the coupon thing, don't get too stress out about that ... sure if you get coupons of the brand that you like, that can save you some $$ ... of course, it won't save you LOTS of $$, but you will feel 抵啲, especially when the brands are on sale as well

You can find coupons from many sources, eg. newspapers, magazines, join the club of the brands, etc ... i will cut out the coupons that i will use, then clip them together with other same categories' coupon, eg. diapers, baby food, personal care, etc ... i put all coupons in a folder and place it in the car ... so i just grab the folder when i go grocery shopping ... of course, you gotta organize the folder from time to time (coupons have expiration date)

That's the way how i do it ... hope this helps ... and, welcome to USA!!!!

every time I travel, I use Playtex nursing system as it is diposible, I did buy 6 nipples, just because I don't want to wash nipples in flight, plus just to pay safe (to have extra nipples if I drop any on the floor).
Playtex -- they are not really big bottle body, liner is easy to use.

for the carseat. check with your manual if they said that it is AAA approved.. most of the carseat sold in US are AAA approved.. you can check online if you lost the manual, or call their toll free number.

When you go to HK? CX ticket is so cheap now. See if you can reserve the seats at the front of the section. There is extra space in the front so that you can place the hand-carried lugguages, diaper bags, and you can sit more comfortably. Last time, my sister even could able to reserve the basket for her son to sleep (but her son's too big for it and he cried once we put him in). You may want to reserve it when you make the booking because it's pretty popular and only a few of them are available on each plane. Do you plan to bring a stroller too? It'd be more convenient for you to carry Terence in the airport.

I plan to go back in May, which costs around $1000 ... for the bassinet, i read the CX's website and it said that babies over 6-month might not feel comfy in there, so i think Terence might not like it as well

in case i wanna reserve the bassinet, do i need to pay full fare for Terence or it's just a request that i can make with my adult fare?

i will bring the stroller ar ... just can't hold Terence all the time ... i will be dead meat ... hehe

... hope that's not too late ... i do read your messages, but sometimes too lazy to type ... sorry =) ... the pic of Spencer and Amanda is cute ar ... how's Amanda doing with solid? i started giving rice cereal to Terence when he's five-month, now we have tried apple sauce and oatmeal, so far he's doing ok

Hi all mom,

We came back from HK for our three weeks vacation. Bailee was very good on the plane, no cry at all. This was her first long flight. She had jet lag in HK for the first few days and adjusted to her normal schedule. But it took her over a week to adjust when we returned to NY. She wake up every night at 1 or 2 am and wont fall back to sleep until 7am. I was so exhausted to party with her every night, I got sick last week and now still recovering.

So, how's everyone doing lately?

We just came back from our HK trip and I can give you some input to your concerns:

(1) We brought Avent bottle with disposable liner with us. Also brought 6 nipples on the plane. I also brought the bottle warmer on the plane to heat up the milk. I didnt wash any nipples on the plane as I have enough to use.

(2) First I wanted to bring our Britax car seat, then i gave up. It is too heavy and too bulky to bring since we had the stroller and carryon bags with us. If you have the Graco Safeseat, you can check at gracobaby.com and see if it is "Certified for Aircraft Travel".

I brought a full fare ticket for my daughter so she can have her own seat. I didnt request bulk head seat because I don't like it when I am traveling with my daughter. The bulk head seat hand rest part cannot be lifted between seats which is not so good since i wanted my daughter to sleep flat if possible. We took Continental Airlines instead of CX because Continental seats have more leg room comparing to CX.

ian都有同樣skin problem.. 同哥哥細時一樣右邊有一撻rash. 用OTC Hydrocortisone 1%都時得時唔得﹐E+用緊2.5%就好少少.. 哥哥同弟弟都只受Baby Aveeno的lotion..其他一係太立或太易乾...
ian仔仲未介夜奶... 最近又唔肯食solid food, 出緊上面兩隻大牙同下面兩隻前牙﹐我見佢就辛苦..

唔記得係唔係叫buckhead seat，總之係每個section 第一行，由於前面唔係座位，所以闊Ｄ，可以放下尿片袋，行李空姐就一定要你放行李架上面。唯一唔好係個電視同餐枱比較”Ｒ”位。上次我個nephew就係infant ticket（２０％正價票）冇位坐，佢又唔係成日坐我地膝頭，咪唯有比佢坐地下玩囉，好彩咁就過咗１０幾個鐘。你睇下可唔可以reserve 到啦，起碼放baby carseat 方便Ｄ。你都可以request bassinet，唔駛一定要full fare，不過如果你個Ｂ大隻Ｄ睇怕佢都唔係太鍾意，因為個藍都幾浅唔係好舒服。你記得order baby menu 俾囝囝呀，Ｄ食物都幾好味架，仲有ＢＢ玩具，唔知仲送唔送背包呢？

Thanks and it's never too late to say happy birthday to the little one. He turned 2 on 3/10 and he's now in the terrible 2. He can draw us crazy all the time. He does not like his sippy cups and refuses to drink milk from any of them (I have bought at least 6 for him). He either bites off the tip of the nipple of the cup (true, bites a piece off !!!! how sharp his teeth are!!!!) or plays with the cup by turning it upside down to see the milk drips off!!! Meal time is also a mess - he wants to feed himself, does not let us feed him except soup. Most of the time, he will eat a little bit first when he's hungry then plays with the rice. Also, he's quite picky, does not want meat, veggie is okay, fish is fine. Every meal, we just work like slaves to clean up the foodtray and the floor several times.

Amanda is eating less, more curious about everything. She poos several times a day, we guess that she's teething because the gums are hardened and she put everything in her mouth. We have just started rice cereal on her and she's okay with it. Since she has several poos per day, we would like to watch her for longer before we introduce other food to her. Does Terence knows how to turn yet? How about sitting? Amanda does not like to be on her tummy so she's not able to turn yet but she can sit quite well and plays by herself if someone sits next to her.

so nice to see u back. how's ur trip ? did u take bailee to disney and ocean park ? did u all have fun? it's good to hear that bailee behaved so well on the plane..i guess boys and gals r different...my alvin went crazy in the 2 hr plane ride to fl and i almost need to jump out of the window......

it's good that terrence is still young it's easier to manage a baby than a toddler la..alvin asked to go to the bathroom at least ten times in 2 hrs even though he's not potty trained...

The trip went pretty well, except the weather wasnt too good while in HK - rain and cold most of the time. We didn't go to Disney, Bailee is too young to play anything so we decided not to go. We went to the Buddha by taking the new cable car NP360, and Bailee was so excited on the cable car. I was surprised she behaved well on the plane too. She did not 扭計 and played with her toys most of the time. Other time she slept like a pig...hahaaha

every time we bought Amanda a ticket because we don't want to hand hold her, she is a giant baby.. too heavy..

if you are not purchasing a full fare ticket for Terence, he won't have a reserved seat, therefore you won't have a seat to put his car seat. The infant fare that CX charge ( 10% or 20% is only for lap carry infant that does not occupany a seat. If you want to bring a car seat, you better off to purchase a child fare ticket for Terence.

Spencer sounds like little monster at this stage ... hehe ... he must have driven you and your mom crazy ... i'll wait for my day to come ... haha

Terence has rolled over lar ... now he gets better, as he can take his arm out after rolling over ... normally he is willing to stay tummy down for like 10 minutes ... for sitting, Terence is doing more or less like Amanda ... he looks so curious when sitting up ... his eyes keep rolling around ... hehe ... i started feeding him oatmeal ... seems that he doesn't quite like it ... it's quite interesting to try different food on him and see his first reaction ... hehe

Thanks for telling me more about the buckhead seats ... Just checked that Graco SafeSeat can be used on plane ... most likely, i will buy full fare for Terence so that he can stay and sleep in his car seat

Question: we have to install the carseat in rear facing inside the car, but Cathy Pacific said that the carseat has to be forward facing, can I install the infant carseat forward facing?

Bailee is such a good girl ... I wish that Terence will be the same
