Today's news (Apple daily): 經濟好轉，破產欠薪保障基金破紀錄地錄得近 10 億元盈餘，破欠基金委員會前日開會通過，將每年向僱主徵收的 600 元破欠基金徵費減至 450 元，減幅 25% ，最快明年 4 月 1 日起生效， 82 萬登記企業受惠。委員會又會制訂一套徵費可加可減機制，當基金盈餘達某一個水平，徵費將會再作調整。

When can we pay less for the maid levy.... think it also applies to the maid levy fund, isn't it?

本人將會在10月抄工人, 入境署說如無意外新工人visa將會在10月18日出. 上週收到舊工人的僱傭稅繳款通知, 原來在9月15日已到期了. 大家都很清楚, 舊工人唔走, 新工人visa唔出, 除非放棄僱庸稅. 若要保留僱庸稅便要有大約一星期多的時間沒有工人. I don't understand, why govt can't make refund. It means, we will pay the tax for the new maid and refund the tax for the old maid. For car license, income tax and business reg. can make refund, but maid tax can't make refund. Very very unfair.

王國長老, I recently sent letters to the Immigration & Labour Depts regarding I terminate a Filipino domestic helper. I extract some details below for your further action, and pls pass it to Mrs Regina Ip if she is helping us.

xxx persistently disregarded my orders and warnings, ignored children’s safety; some serious incidents such as she left my child alone at home and left my child alone in public area.
My children also complaint she attacked them. ........

I have to pay the levy again because it is extremely difficult to find a local helper to take care of my children.
It seems that the government penalizes those bad luck employers, we are true victims under the existing foreign domestic helpers’ policy.
I believe that my case is not the unique one, ........
I strongly urge our government to consider the actual situations, citizens’ needs, be fair to employers of foreign DHs and to protect our young kids, please review the current unfair policy; for examples,

1 Probation Period
It would be fair for employers as we do not have the chances to interview overseas domestic helpers personally.
Employers or even agencies in Hong Kong may be unable to verify the information provided by the candidates/their overseas agencies is true or not.
Many local domestic helpers are unwilling to work in families with babies and young children.

The implementation of probation period also help to eliminate the chances for foreign domestic helpers to provide inaccurate experience record, make mistakes intentionally in order to be terminated by their employers.

It is also unfair for employers to be responsible for helpers’ air-fare even she works only one day and resign.

2. 100% Medical Coverage

There is no law for employers in Hong Kong to provide 100% medical coverage for their employees, why employers of foreign domestic helpers are compulsory to provide 100% medical coverage to their housemaids?

We are not commercial or voluntary organizations, many employers of foreign DHs are general employees only. We have the full obligation of employers but the expenses we spent on domestic helpers are not tax deductible.

3. Contract Terms

Employers of foreign domestic helpers should be consulted regarding the contract terms, conditions and salaries. Their salaries and benefits should be benchmarked with other Asian countries.

我的好友被印傭誣告, 將要上法庭

我的好友被印傭誣告襲擊, 只有印傭是証人, 現在被告上法庭. 她已找了律師, 但還未開審, 已身心疲累, 不知會不會被定罪. 如有案底, 工作也會犧牲掉, 可能還會影響子女.
前天看到新聞, 見有一名婦人被印傭告用背心襲擊, 她也宣稱是被印傭誣告.
現在是否有很多這類事件? 一般市民缺乏法律常識, 我的朋友那天去了落口供, 事後她的律師說口供對她不利, 而印傭又亂編故事, 政府和那些所謂民主團體又只幫外傭(政治因素?), 令一般僱主十分無助.

我無錢和我怕左d外籍傭工..想完contract後..不請傭工...我果賓賓同我取8千8百幾遺散費...我果賓賓話果我唔俾佢就勞工處...勞工處話因為我是裁員...所以要俾...令我氣憤難平!!!!!

幫唔到佢,你搵我我介紹個朋友比你我相信冇可能比人屈都有罪!我亦都相信我朋友可以攪得掂
而家香港政府就係助左呢班工人既膽先會係又告唔係又告用工人唔係得我地一個國家講民主都唔係得我地有冇可能係我地香港先有咁多呢d問題先?! 其他國家用工人既人唔同d既 ? 掉番轉請工人返黎僱主照顧返轉頭架? 仲要出糧比佢養埋工人唔駛做咩? 唔該d官員諗下啦家下我地比人玩呀

After I terminated that maid, the agency seemed fear that the maid would go to their consulate to complain them because this would cause them trouble when they arrange maids to HK. Their consultate protects their citizens. Despite the serious child abuse cases like those report in Next Magazine, our govt still keep silent?????????

It's good to choose a maid from a good agency. My
agent is very good, he can give you some good idea
after listening to your situation. My first maid is chosen
by him since I was having my 1st baby at that time. My old helper was very good at take caring of my children.
She had worked for me for 9 years. But due to her bad
financial problem and the working attitude was changing
worse after working for 6-7 years, I terminated her
contract after I gave her warning. This is my bad
memory :-( because I treated her as my family member. I
consulted my agent and he taught me how to fire her and
helped me to find a new one in a short period. He helped
me a lot. He also taught me to claim back a part of LEVY I paid already. My second helper is very hardworking although she need some training as she has not worked in H K before. I only gave the application fee of about $1,300 for the new helper. No extra charge. He promised to
follow-up within 2 months and the maid will undergo
training at his office in the first 2 months (only Sundays). Exchange of helper is free of charge but details you need to ask as I have no such experience. During the first 2 M, he will phone you to ask the performance of the
helper. If you feel unsatisfactory, he will scold the helper
during the Sunday lesson to make them improve. I think this is quite good (because she had also learnt a few Chinese dishes in the two months, this will save my time). He appreciate anyone consulting him about problems of domestic helpers even you are not his clients. I think I'm lucky.

Hello I hired a maid from last month and she has a bad behavier, she 's very talkative and likes to show off herself on taking care baby, but her way seems an elder and doesn't like to pick up bb when our bb crying, since I told her that I have no experience on care of baby, she always talk with my neighbour what mistake on me, by the way, she
likes to hear our family's matter and talk with our relative,
she always taking phone chating when working even
care of baby, when my baby crying, she never pick her up,actually she is not really like baby, she just prepare baby's milk for 6 times every day and change nappies only, but not does anymore.

On 12/11/2007, I hired a bun bun to take care my eight-month old son. My family is very simple, two working adults and a baby. I left my son to her just one day after she came to my home. We treated her nice as our son was on her hands during the daytime. At night, we took care the baby. I woke up 2-3 times to feed the baby though I need to work next day. We believe that if we treat the maid well, she will treat my son well. Just one week after she came (19/11), she gave me her resignation letter. We need to pay airfare to her. xyz@#$!
I'd like to report my case to the relevant authority for a hope that the authority will amend such unfair policy.
Please let me know what I shall do.

本人於10月尾面試local工人- Mary Anx (<w> 84431x (3) (簡稱Mary.) 得本人同意應Mary之要求於March 2008 放2 weeks 假期亦即時簽署有闦文件並辦理手續直至上工幾日前 Mary突然要求於1-2 Dec放假

(1 Dec : time 1000 – 2100) (2 Dec : time 1000 – 1900) 本人覺得大家如有誠意可一人讓一步所以我答應可放假2天但要求Mary 於1 Dec 提早2 hours回家但遭Mary拒絕. 同時發覺Mary說話跟最初面試時承落有極大出入最後亦遭refuse job offer (但所有手續文件一切已準備妥當),

1. 如有家庭請local完約工人請留意此人未開工前己反口覆舌
多多要求大話連篇
2. 本人已作出一步又一步退讓但亦不能得到共悉是否對方人心不足
3. 請問就上述案例可否向有關部門投訴 / 反映

有無天理.......我好唔開心.....

我於9月時聘請pilipino工人,,,,本人在聘請她之前已在Agent面前有一些守則需要此工人遵守...但是經常發生以下事故:

1, 對本人態度差....不合作...曾經本人要求她清潔toilet但本人發現根本沒有做...因本人2日前之跡仍然沒有清潔...本人要求她重申清潔一次，但她拒絕...堅持自己已清潔了...我其實很嬲...我叫了五次才很清潔一次....(不服從的態度)

2. 沒有本人批准同我個囡去其他地方...之前已在Agent面前有一些守則需要此工人遵守(其中一樣是要經本人批准方可帶小朋友出街)

3.已經同她講了很多次(希望她需要吃/用本人之物品請詢問本人方可吃/用)但發現很多次私下吃本人之食物.......(我只想要尊重我)

4. 經常與我個囡爭執(我個囡3歲)令我她煩

5. 她需要負責照顧我個囝(20個月)之Dinner.而因每餐我都會給魚個囝吃而她需要Check魚骨...因本人也不方心所以會Check第二次...但好彩我Check經常發現有魚骨...(不細心...疏忽)

6. 我屋企經常發現不見了日常物品....(但可惜沒證據)

我於9/12/2007與她終止合約...但要我比那一個月代通知金我比得很不開心.........我問勞工處(除非引用嚴重過失條例)我想請問我是一定要比呢？............請給意見...Thanks
