No, it's not bitter. Remember to put also 赤小豆(my mom used mexican beans and she said that it's similar)、扁豆衣. Add red dates or sweetened dates would taste much better, only 1 or 2 are good enough. I drank it last night and it tasted like regular soup. My 2 little monsters really liked it and fought for having it (Amanda cried when she finished it and I took the bowl away
). But, they get used to drink Chinese herb soup anyway.
