MSB - HK$30 not cheap??

but i think the HK version is HK$49.9@ for the VCD bor.
and those titles is new. anyway, even those are expensive than HK, my son still want to buy if it is not the same .

$30@ I said not cheap becos I expected cost of things in Bkk to be much lower than HK, and only 2 stories per VCD (?).

I understand re yr son wanting to buy ALL the MSB which he doesn't have already.
Piglet is also like that, but besides MSB, he wants a lot of other things : Lego (ALL !!!), Tomy cars and trains, magnetic bookmarks, flashcards......... so ends up I have to tell him everytime and everyday that mum is already broke !

I am considering this : should I give him any pocket money, and if so how much ??
What about you ?

What i am using right now is the stamps system.

the stamps are equal to $$ as well.

1 stamp = HK$1.

how to earn the stamps:

if he do some extra worksheets/knew how to spell or how to read the books, can get several stamps, some is easy -- may be 1-2 stamps, some is difficult, can get 5 stamps etc.....

When he acculmate certain stamps, he can use it to :

1. open some new toys which we bought before as you know, some how there are some sale and i cannot control myself to buy it for him but i will not allow him to open at that time, he need to use his stamps to open -- 5 stamps or depends on the $$ of that toys.

2. watching his favor's VCD -- 5 stamps

3. buying his favor's toy -- depends on the $$ of that toy.

if he got 30 stamps, that means he got $30. he can use it to buy some things that he want to buy.

I discover this is very good :

When he want to buy some new toy and i said he need to use his stamps to buy it. Then he will serious consider and deduct some expensive toy. Don't need to bargin with him. HAHA.

i suggest if you really plan to go, you can buy the touring book by Ka publishing (Wu Wai Chung), that one has Thai's language and you just show it to the taxi driver. If your hotel is at SIam (center like our Central), the taxi fee only cost less than $B100 = HK$25 max. not expensive.

cost for the car racing is around B$390 for 1 round and B$1100 for 3 round, each round is 10 mins.

HK$1 = B$4.3

Hi BS, KL, LSW & RMM,

I bought the cartoon name stickers at Kowloon City Plaza few weeks ago. It costed $30 per 80pcs. You could order white ground without cartoon OR w/ cartoons. My order was printed both Chinese and English name on the
POKEMON cartoons ground. My son loves them very
much. The durability of the stickers are really durable, as I used them last year on the water bottle etc.
I believe piglet and LSW's son must love them too.
(Because of POKEMON !)

Pls let me know if you gals want to order them. I can
order the stickers in Wanchai, but haven't check the
price there.

Sorry for my late reply as I was very busy in the Summer.
e.g. My son played soccer at 8:00am twice a week, so we went out at 7:30am and back to home at 8:00pm
tonight. We stayed at the Central Library from 12noon to
6pm.

I prefer stay at library more than at home !:-x
Always Play Play Play at home with his cars, trains, lego
and Pokemon etc. My son's hobbies are as same as
piglet's !

KL + RMM,

As per my observation, the teacher doesn't encourage the student to wrap the books to prevent over weight.
The books are very heavy and the Primary kids need to bring Chi/Eng/Math+other subjects books and workbooks everyday !

When R went to P1, I did gave him some pocket money, however, there's no tuckshop in the school=>meaning no use. Moreover, the school doesn't allow the student to bring money back, so no more la.
The idea of stamps is good, but not work for R cause we (hehe, He and I) have no 恆心 to maintain. Also, I'm dementia ma, always forget our rules, that's why give up. So, most likely not work for Piglet too, right ? ..

Piglet is P3 and maybe it's time (in one or two years later, although a bit earlier) to teach him how to spend cause he may need money when he's in Secondary. You may give him a few dollars every day or week and ask him to plan how to spend it. He need to get your approval in spending the money and report to you actually where's the money gone.

For me, I always tell R&O that we won't buy any toy/things when we're in the shops, only "watch", but I'll consider his favour/requests. So, they get use to it->not buying, just "watching". When he said he want to buy this or that, I'll said you got a lot at home and we got no space la. Since I always turn down their desires, their desires are not strong.

Very seldom cases I'll buy toys for them now cause I've turned to books which are more durable and beneficial, even though R's exam results rank #4 amongst the class, didn't buy anything for him. He've too much books and not value for them la. Moreover, 思想教育=>always tell them earn money is hard and don't want to waste.

Anyone will go with your kids to watch "Transformer"? Seems the comments are very good bor. R want to, but when he heard that he need to get 4 stickers (given by his piano teacher when he play good), he give up and said wait for the VCD/DVD woh..

Son of a friend of mine, now P4-->

5, also in same Pr sch, gets $10 pocket money per WEEK, and can save up to buy toys he want.
So Piglet is expecting some pocket money in P3, but will at most match this amount.
We let him bring some snacks (biscuits, sweets) to school anyway.

Token / reward system will not work on Piglet, as you said, CCheng, for same reasons.

re : toy shops,
I also say "Look Only", but will buy when I regard it is value-for-$ or his favourite, then will not let him have it until he does xxx and yyy.
But Piglet is more scheming, he will ask "any reward?" every time I praise him for doing something.

And every time he goes to PTH class (ie once a week), I will let him "turn an egg" afterwards, usually a $5 Gundam.

Piglet wants to see this too. But we can only manage after work on weekday. Must find a day.

He didn't mention DVD/VCD for this one. But want to buy Gundam DVD/VCDs (?) becos they are available in Popular, and I said No.

Also want to watch Simpsons, but I told him it is adult cartoon, not for him.

Not interested in Ratatouille, fortunately.

re: wrapping textbooks

Piglet's school practices min exercise books, returns ex bks to kids to take home only when there is homework. So schoolbag is not toooooo heavy.
And you know Piglet's size, so no problem.

Our hotel this time is Plaza Athenee. quite good, clean, new. The rest room has both shower and bath tub. The breakfast is good as well. Last time, we lived at Davis Bangkok, is good/big as well. Any good recommendation?

But (PA) they are quite strict for the breakfast charges for the kid. My son need to charge for the breakfast, you know, normally the kid will not charge for the breakfast at the hotel. I means ages under 6 may be. PA said they charges when the kids up to 4 yrs old. Last summer, we went to Pattaya, Asiawan don't need to charge for the breakfast of my son-- 6 yrs old.

He refuse to eat anything at the morning, only ate some jam bread == HK$100+ (include the 10% services charges)

, their breakfast buffet is quite expensive.

Finally went to see the 7 bags this evening after TKD.
(and met CCheng and R&O in TST

)
Nothing in red, piglet needs red schoolbags, so cannot buy.
The shopkeeper said no new stock until early next yr.
So either use the worn SPI for half a yr more,
or buy something else.

Why don't they order more stock
