We have bad weather in Vancouver and the govt just announce that the tap water is not good to drink. Now the whole town is searching mineral/spring water.

Sorry shanjun, I am responding to you!
I think it is only good to stay in Canada when you are old. I assume you will have govt pension and the best about Canada is fresh air and clean environment, but please excuse the water right now.
Hong Kong is good for making money but too stress to live there. I dont mind to work in HK and retire here. Parks are everywhere and no one is rush here.
shanjun,
Just wonder what make you move back to HK after so many memorable years in Calcary and where is your kids now? I assume they are all grown up and independent now if you are over 50, right? Have they ever thought to work in HK?
I always think it is very brave to move from one place to another place. Can you tell me is it hard to move back to HK after so many years in Canada and did your wife like to move back?
xother, am single, my 2 daughters are in canada, toronto & montreal, the little one wants to study fine arts in hk, well, the youngsters in canada always switch their mind in no time.
it's not easy to move from a place to another, you'll know the situation when getting old.
hah, i am not brave enough though, actually, in my point of view, i escape stealthily & escape to freedom.
Hi shanjun,
I read the post before and that is why I am curious to ask more. I will understand if you fail in Canada, then you will think about going back, but it seems you are opposite. It is rare to see anyone do that! Or you are actually getting a better life in HK?
You mention you are old, but I assume you are still working age when you were back?
Since I am just starting here, I am trying to see if I will follow your footstep and move back to HK when I am older.
Hi xother,
Bryan is just two months old now. I think I would like him to learn some Chinese at early age and then move back to Vancouver later. But I still have not come to a conclusion with my husband.
HI Spdwong,
The govt has not lifted the boiling water warning yet but people are not crazy as time passed. Personally I dont really care as I boiled water anyway. I never drink tap water anywhere.
Few days ago the news just said that the tap water is much better than bottle water eventhough with high turbility. It said the bottle water is more expensive that fuel and there is no standard on water quality. The tap water has to its standard and the taste is much better. Everyone has something to say anyway!
I was the only one in Canada as well as my husband. We have no family/relatives here and we just land here 3 years ago.
yes, HK and Canada has its pros and cons and I wont say which one is better than others. However since my husband is english native speaker, he has limitation in HK and that's why we decide to come to Canada.
It is a long struggle for both of us to settle here and I really think it is not a good choice to leave all your career behind because of your child's education.
Calgary is so cold these few days, now Sunday is
-24, with windchill, feels like -33 and tomorrow till Wed is still hightest -22 to -24. We are living in a freezer
Vancouver is also snowing, this morning forcast say they will have 15cm of snow.
It's only Nov, what will it like in the next few months? Last Wed it start to get cold & snow, it took me 45minutes to drove from my home to 20Ave NW down 14 street from Sandstone. The cars are just crawling.
Vancouver also has heavy snow. The snow started on SAT afternoon and it seems never stop. Today SUN, the forecast said 10-15cm and the weather is around 0C.
yes, the serve weather seems only happen in the west, not to the east and the snow storm seem will continue in the next few days.
xother - did you go out today? we did, and there are many cars on the road, though, news advise people not drive if unnecessary. Is the temp is Vancouver below zero, heard that people in Vancouver is not quite adapt to winter driving conditions.
