Still holding my view which i posted on the FB group (which another fellow user also pointed out in this thread) the answer should be any number in the range 17-31 since it is primary 1 maths and identify bigger/smaller number is in the syllabus.
This type of "open" question we at the age of 30s or 40s aren't familiar with but they do exist now in primary schools. the idea, according to teachers, is to open up kids' mind without any specific answers but to let them understand different concepts (more abstract ones).
This is plausible but how do you establish the correlation between 11, 12 and 16 at the start of the mathematics series? My son said 21 because he said he could work backwards from 47. I honestly don't quite understand what he talked about. He's 8 years old. But, according to my friends who have PhD in mathematics, they said the question is wrong.
