My son used Pampers exclusively for the first few months. Hospital provides Pampers and it is good with no leakage. Afterwards, I gave him both Pampers and Huggies (depend on sale and discount coupons). The cheapest place to buy Huggies is Costco but it is difficult to find newborn or size 1. Huggies Supreme is better than body-shaped but Supreme is more expensive. Costco in SF only sells body-shaped. So, most of the time, I buy body-shaped, not too bad.
Whatever you use Pampers or Huggies, do not buy newborn which is only good for baby up to 8 lbs. So, if your baby born big, he will outgrow from it very fast. You should buy size 1 and fold down the top part instead (nurses in hospital taught me that). Also, there's a size 1-2 which is quite a good choice when your baby grows bigger but not ready for size 2 yet.
I have tried Pampers, Huggies, Kirkland and Target brand but Target brand is definitely not comfortable. Kirkland is close to Huggies but the design is not that good in comparison. You can use a better brand when the baby is young and try some other after a few months. One more thing, the size of different brands may be a bit different. I found Pampers is a bit smaller than Huggies. Therefore, when Spencer is using Huggies 3, I need to buy Pampers 4 at the same time. I've already stocked up some boxes of size 1 and 2 for my 2nd one, save more when there's sale.
