Oh, it is not the weight of the food but the quantity of carbonhydrates in the food. It's easy in USA because it shows everything in the labels. So, if I buy a loaf of bread, I know that how much carb I have intaken from 1 piece of bread. The nurse and the doctor here is just super-careful so that everybody has to check the sugar level once is discovered to have diabetes. My cousin even had to inject insulin if her reading was too high. She has 2 kids and was tested to be diabetes every times.
The dietitian also explained a bit about the total calories by reviewing what I ate everyday. I have a notebook to fill out everyday and I have to write down when and what I have eaten. She will review it in every visit on everything, from the choices of food to the reading and the total amount of food. Last time, she said that I have cut too much of carb and I must have not eaten enough calories hence, I lost weight.
My doctor already told me that I need to think about C-section if the baby keeps growing too big. So, I really need to eat the right way to reduce the risk of having a big baby. Let's "add oil" together:)
